I learned to drive in one of these. Most people under 40 could have never seen a starter pedal.

My first car was a '47 Chevrolet Stylemaster. I ticked nearly all the boxes from this thread so far, including this one!

Re: Houston West Quadrant Breakfast

Yeah, I do miss these. I've been so busy on weekends that I couldn't do it - but we should do it again soon. I know we usually did the 3rd Saturdays, but I'm teaching an LTC course on the 18th, starting at 9am. But that class is on Hwy 6, near Briar Forest, so it's not too far away. Anyone want to m...

Re: Lemonade Stand: Round Three (for HFD 75 this time)

Day one went well - the kids raised around $620. It looks like they'll fall way short of their goal, but a good time was had by all. Early in the morning, the ladder truck crew came by, and then later the other crew came to visit. In between, some friends of ours that are VFD also showed their suppo...

Re: Can my wife attain hers?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I am red blooded american from Tennessee. My wife however is salsa blooded from Mexico. She is a permanent resident of the U.S. has her permanent resident card. Can she attain her concealed carry permit? I did a search and didnt find her exact problem so figured...

Re: Lemonade Stand: Round Three (for HFD 75 this time)

What plans does she have for this years funds? :thumbs2: Her original plan was just to contribute to their food pantry. They work 24 hour shifts and need to buy their own food. Our neighborhood swim team usually does a fundraiser for them for this purpose, but weather, etc. prohibited them from doi...

Ok folks - this is important:

Anything west of Knoxville ain’t Tennessee. That’s just ‘east Arkansas’.

Lemonade Stand: Round Three (for HFD 75 this time)

Two years ago, at age 8, my daughter did her first lemonade stand to buy breakfast for our Precinct 5 Constables. She ended up earning ~$650, and was able to bring food to them several times over the year. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=85457 Then last year, at age 9, she did it again, but this time with the ...

Re: VA: Lee County first school in state to approve arming teachers

That's just about an hour from where I grew up.

Knowing the area well, I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the teachers in that locale didn't volunteer for the option to be armed.

Re: USAF pilots' ejection seats to have M4 variant & 120 rounds.

Y’all flyboys had all the neat things: life rafts, parachutes, ejection seats, etc. The only survival kit we had on our M60A3 was an escape hatch, our .45s, and our M3 Grease Guns. I was glad when we got upgraded to the M1s. Less need for the escape hatch, so we had none. Thank God for the air suppo...

Mine used to say 'Veteran'. Now it says 'Instructor'. Was hoping for, 'Veteran Instructor!' :smilelol5:
That answers my question - I was going to ask if I could get 'Instructor' on mine, but I don't want 'Veteran' to come off of it. Looks like I'm sticking with what I have.

Re: Memorial Day

For my family, Memorial Day is a day to remember our fallen soldiers. Sure, we have the swimming, the BBQ, and the rest, but each Memorial Day starts at the Houston National Cemetery with a backpack full of American flags. We visit our four MoH recipients, visit a handful of family friends, and the ...
