Re: Lonestar Armory Run and Gun (Biathlon)

I typed out “W-T-F” but the board’s auto censor changed it to “what the heck.”

Re: Lonestar Armory Run and Gun (Biathlon)

I’ve only done the what the heck RnG in Crawford but would also like to try the Impact RnG as well. I think Impact is only a 5K, though, right?

Re: Lonestar Armory Run and Gun (Biathlon)

That’s impressive you were able to complete each stage. I read somewhere that the vast majority of competitors fail to do that. My first, and so far only, RnG had me DNF every single stage except one. Very humbling!

I forget the brand (DeSantis maybe?), but the Waxahachie Academy has 1911 holsters.

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Tennessee Colony, TX & Yard, TX

Interesting history. My Dad and I went hog hunting at Boar Creek Ranch in Tennessee Colony about 3 years ago. Quiet, rural area with some good hog hunting.

Re: Help me decide: 1-4x Scopes

I have the Burris’s “budget” Tac30 and love it. Granted, it’s the only 1-4x optic I’ve ever shot with, so I can’t really compare it to any other variable. However, I had a chance to really test it out in rainy, mud-filled conditions, accidentally banging it against trees and wooden and chain link fe...

Re: Today in the Dems control of the House

https://hudson.house.gov/press-releases/hudson-reintroduces-national-concealed-carry-reciprocity/ A nation concealed carry reciprocity bill was introduced on the 3rd of January. I suspect it has no chance of passing. If I remember correctly, the House passed it when it was under Republican control....

Re: Shotgun suggestions

I really like my pump action Mossberg Maverick 88 (the budget version of a Mossberg 500). But I like even more my two Winchester Model 12s (a 1930 16 gauge and a mid-50’s 12 gauge) I got used in the past year or so. The Winchesters are built like tanks, have buttery-smooth actions and can be taken d...

Priest, It's been less than a year. The thread is still kickin' and apropos to many.  I stand by my sentiment. Personally, I have the Burris 1x6: https://www.burrisoptics.com/scopes/rt-6-riflescopes-series/rt-6-riflescope-1-6x24mm and like it a lot. The Trijicon is very tempting t...

Re: Gloves while shooting?

I brought a pair of gloves to use in some of the obstacles at a run n gun biathlon and forgot to put them on at a stage that required climbing over an 8-10 ft high chain link fence. Ended up cutting my hand and finger and got blood all over my rifle and gear. I later put them and found it inconvenie...

Re: Harvard (!) Study Finds Inverse Relationship Between Rates of Private Gun Ownership and Rates of Crime

It's not just Kleck and Lott. Sociologists, who are not verbally pro 2A, have been awakened to the idea that gun violence is an extremely focal problem. Don't Shoot, David Kennedy's history of project Ceasefire and the recent study by Andrew Pappachristos on gun violence as a communicable disease, ...
