With each passing day I have gotten more and more annoyed with the Alien Gear holster. I am almost 100% sure I want to send it back. Maybe they won't take it but I would risk it. Only issue is I don't want to go back to the P238 as my EDC while I wait for a new holster for the XDS.

The holster just doesn't support the gun well. The leather is not cut well. It comes down too low to be comfortable I am sitting on some of it as I type.

You have a bum Xds hoster, I have a Bum XDs holster - - wanna swap-see if its a fit thing?
Mine is a single clip IWB tuckable - holds the gun great - thats about it.

The joys of a new holster....yeah NOT so much.

Just got done getting aquainted with the XDs 45 and decided to go ahead and order a holster, went with the old faithful crossbreed supertuck - and lucked out and found one on the seconds site. While waiting I decided to get a generic holster for short term use, my first mistake.

Academy carries a small selection of blackhawk gear, including holsters. I have used their serpas, and I like their pocket holsters so I thought I would try something new. After a bit of looking I find that their tuckable leather IWB made for the Glock 27 fits the XDS better than the glock its patterned off of - and academy had it in stock.
Out of the package it looks good, uses a single wide semi-J type tuckable clip in the center of the holster, with no adjustment for depth or cant. leather is rough out and thin, but decent quality with no discolorations or obvious flaws. Pistol fit it perfectly, nice coverage on the trigger guard and the muzzel stops at the edge of the open end of the holster.
The holster is fairly soft and thin overall, with no reinforcement at the mouth = 2 handed re-holster.
Got it settled in at around 430 - 500 and shirt tucked. With no adjustments it was clear the gun rod a little too 'deep' I could NOT get a solid grip on the butt withou firs 'pinching' it and pulling it up about 1/2 inch or so - the front of the grip was completely below the edge of my pants/belt.

Walking around in it made me appreciate the thick horsehide supertuck even more - I am hoping the the springfield logo will be gone from my hip by the end of the weekend, but its not looking likely. When I said soft and thin - it was a severe understatement. From as clearly as i could feel every edge, corner, mark, impression, mote of dust I am wondering what exactly this material is - it LOOKS like leather, it SMELLs like leather, it cushions like TDCJ toilet paper.
Oh well - another one for the drawer...

One of the earliest holsters I ever purchased, the Wilson Combat lo-profile was an impulse buy. I had a serpa at the time and felt that it put my 1911 too far from my body to conceal. One of my local gun shops had ordered the wilson for another customer who never showed up.
Lo-profile is a high ride pancake type holster with a 'combat' cut. The leather is quite still and has held up through 9 years of semi-regular use. Available for 1.5 inch belts only. Open topped with enough stiffness for easy 1 hand re-holstering. The holster is not boned out as well as many of my other top tier holsters (milt sparks, mitch rossen, etc.) but provides plenty of retention for most everyday activities.
The only notable downside to the holster is the pad to protect you from the beavertail could stand to be 1/8 of an inch longer. Not a problem with a G.I. grip safety but not quite enough for a kings.
At current retail prices of 89-109 for the basic black and exotic skins double to triple that I would not consider it an outstanding value, you pay more for the name.
