Re: Corona Virus (2019-nCoV) from China: Its going to be bad.

I have been told 10% bleach and 90% water is a very effective disinfectant including level4. True, but overly simplistic. What that means, with a virulent airborne pathogen, is that you have a 2-3 "portal" entry into your home, and a means of handling clothing worn on the outside. You leave for wor...

Re: Corona Virus (2019-nCoV) from China: Its going to be bad.

From what I'm reading, the expected mortality rate is between 2-5%. It should dwindle down as humans figure out how to combat the virus. In comparison, the annual flu outbreak has a mortality rate of 0.1%. The only scary thing about the virus is the two week incubation period, so containment will b...

2 weeks?? Wow. So all those people testing "negative" at the airports could be active carriers.
Correct.

There was an invitation only teleconference on it yesterday for medical personal.

Re: Corona Virus (2019-nCoV) from China: Its going to be bad.

As we know, you can contract the CV and infect someone else before you have any symptoms, i.e. before you yourself know you have it. So for how long a period can this happen? How long between the time you can spread it to the time you start having symptoms? Up to two weeks is the general time span ...

I never understand why some leo wants to know where you are going? Is that relevant?
I guess it could be if you said you were going by a brothel to deliver some (insert drug of choice).

Re: TX: Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville shuts down

When I was young, my father had a Mooney and flew out of Houston. He was an AF pilot and retired. When I was young, I took the controls and flew the aircraft for a short period of time. I did this a couple of times. When I got older, dad could not understand the lunacy of me jumping out of aircraft...

Re: TX: Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville shuts down

Unfortunately, general aviation has just gotten too expensive for the average guy. When I first started flying in 1971, a nice Piper Cherokee 140 rented for $15 per hour wet and am older Cessna 150 rented for $5 per hour plus gas which was about .35 per gallon and running rich used about 8 gallons ...

Re: Forum members dog poll

My 15 1/2 year old best friend died, so I am without a dog now. Very sorry for your loss. 15 years is a nice age to retire to doggie heaven. Give it time, the pain will lessen and eventually you will be ready to find a new pal. Don't ask how I know. Just think about it this way: your best friend is...

Re: FL: Father kills son in law accidentally with one shot from .380

This reminds me of an incident back in junior high school. One halloween, a couple of guys dared another guy to walk down a path in the cemetery at night. He accepted the challenge, but one of the other guys was hiding behind a tombstone. When he walked by the tombstone, the prankster jumped out to ...
