Re: Texas House Speaker Joe Straus Takes a Swipe at Gun Bills

I went with the "Wife-Unit" to watch her get her haircut/styled this morning and picked up the only thing I could read while I was there of Texas Monthly...

It was the April edition, and since I do know that it is a liberal leaning rag, I still like the restaurant, furniture and home ads in there...

This one had the lowdown on Joe Straus's accending to the Speaker's position, and the efforts by the ABC's (Anyone but Craddick) group...

Very interesting read, and may explain some of the things we saw this last session...And it does confirm a few things some of our members here (who are politically active) have said that this was probably our last chance for a while to get things done on apositive side for Texans gun rights in general...

In 2011, we may be forced to go on the defensive for the first time in an age... ;-) But we can do that...

Re: Texas House Speaker Joe Straus Takes a Swipe at Gun Bills

Off the record, my state rep was not impressed at first, yet that softened over time...

Politics is a little different animal than most of the things we do in our lives...Everyone remembers their first day at work, and this may be a little like that, but with every position of leadership, it sure is good to have some support...I do not think Strauss had much support after all was said and done...

Face saving aside, there might be a need to see if someone else would step up...But I believe pride will step in the way, and 2011 is going to be another :yawn 'er...

But heck who knows...Alot can happen in two years...And what is funny, a lot more will happen, than what took place these last few months... ;-)

The key is to make sure we retake some of the margin in the house, so a session like this doesn't get bogged down (as bad) like it did...
