Re: New CHL Holder + Vehicle carry questions

I think this is interesting and I disagree with the DPS on what a belt is, I guess. The Code Construction Act says that if a term is not defined in the law, then it has the same meaning as the common usage of the term. I think most people would say that the term belt means something going around the...

Re: Property taxes

You can go to your County's Appraisal District website and pull up several residential, commercial and agriculture properties and see what the differences in each of those rates is in your County. Just for technical accuracy, you will see the tax rates for each taxing unit. All property is taxed at...

Re: Property taxes

I bet a 1% increase in sales taxes could eliminate property taxes. Not by a long shot. Property taxes amount to more than 50% of all taxes collected in Texas at all levels. Check the amount of taxes collected by source listed on page 1 of this report from the state Comptroller . You might find some...

Re: Talking about magazines

I'm glad you guys are having fun but I'm very serious about this and believe everyone needs to be. We've allowed the left to hijack the language, and often fallen into the same habit, and it does nothing good for us. This is a real problem and both sides do it. I recently wrote to an author of a ne...

Re: Houston we got a problem... Live Rd jammed

I would make sure the bolt carrier was removed from the upper, then use a dowel rod from the muzzle to knock the round out of the chamber. No danger to it if there is nothing for the primer to hit. I had to beat out the bolt carrier group hard to get it out and the case rim was damaged as shown. Ne...

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

If the internal investigation and officer statement is not admissible in court for criminal purposes, and would be used for violations of policy; what would be the issue in having the external agency investigate potential violation of the law? I support that part of the law. I was just pointing out...

Re: 5 Officers Shot In Houston - Pray

I believe that a bill should be introduced, in the legislature, that mandates, that no law enforcement agency, in Texas, can do it's own internal affairs investigation, in any officer involved shooting, or death of a person in custody ... Jusme, I understand where you are coming from, but I don't t...

Re: AZ: Nanny state sends in SWAT

People seem to be overlooking where the mother said the child temperature came down shortly after going to the doctor and she called the doctor to let her know. This one wasn't in the stories I read and it does make a difference. It is part of why I said there must be more to the story. From the fi...

Re: AZ: Nanny state sends in SWAT

On the second question, I would say that parents are the ones tasked with safeguarding the physical and spiritual well being of the child. But, as a Locke disciple, I'd also say that governments are formed among men in order to safeguard the rights of the people. Children have the right to life, so...

Re: TX: How to dispose of your bump stops in Houston

Well, isn't "public safety" for "use" by the public? Supposedly the public at large, taken as an entity, are the ones benefiting from both stopping the manufacturing of those stocks and the taking away of those stocks from those who legally purchased those items in good faith. The government should...

Re: TX: How to dispose of your bump stops in Houston

Didn’t the ATF originally write an opinion for these saying they are legal. How can they then come backna couple of years later after millions are sold and ban them? Yes, they did, but there is no rule or law saying the government cannot change their mind on an interpretation of the law. This happe...

Re: TX: How to dispose of your bump stops in Houston

The goverment cannot force you to destroy your own property without due compensation. Yes, they can. And I am answering in a legal fashion, not as some others have posted about realistic based on might. This is one of the greatest misunderstandings of the law. Most people think the Fifth Amendment ...

Is there any data to see how many have been turned in? I'm guessing single digit percentages.
Two were turned in Austin, just to enable the owner to file a federal lawsuit over the ban. He waited until he had been harmed by the law.
