I lived 2 blocks from Union Square as a boy. Proud resident of Texas since 1972. Some people vote with their feet. I may be a brash loudmouth but I don't think we have met yet. They obviously like it being preyed upon or they'd vote in politicians who would allow self-defense.
However, I feel quite happy these Ny'ers and other northern big city folks aren't migrating here (with rare exception) evangelizing their cowardly ways as something noble.
I met one and sure enough he was from New York City. A brash loudmouth. He was quite proud of his unwillingness to defend himself or his family. I wondered about his willingness to sound off so vociferously about it. Perhaps, he's a masochist looking for a peculiar kind of love...maybe the New York's full of them...Afterall, if you defend yourself you're unlikely to be gratified with a beating or worse.
