Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

I'm heading to the instructor's class this week and was wondering about places to eat lunch. When I was there for my LTC instructor's course many years ago, there wasn't any place close enough to the DPS facility to go and grab lunch during the day. Is that still case?

Instructor renewal should be all online this year.
I can't find any information on the DPS/RSD site about renewals; the "Instructor Update" section still references the 2017 renewal. Do you have another source of information?

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

I have been on the waiting list for the class since March 2017. I just called DPS and they said there is no update on my class. isn't one year wait excessive? I signed up this January and was told I'm 140 on the list with 5 more classes "tentatively" scheduled for 2018, max of 12 per class. Assumin...

Re: 357, 357 mag and 38

My understanding is that any .357 magnum revolver can also shoot .38 rounds; is that accurate? .38 Special, yes, upon which the .357 Mag was based - there are a bunch of .38 cartridges (.38 S&W, .38 Short Colt, .38 Long Colt, etc) out there, so being specific is important. Is there a difference bet...

357, 357 mag and 38

Is there a difference between a .357 and .357 magnum revolver, or are those the same thing?
If there is a difference, can a .357 revolver (not a magnum) also shoot .38s?

Re: Allen Event Center posted 06 & 07

Sorry this is a few days late and couple dollars short, but a friend and I went to the gun show at the Allen Event Center two weekends ago and upon entering saw two 06 & 07 signs as we paid. The Texas3006.com web site also says the signs are invalid. Who do we need to contact to get them to obey th...

Electrician advice - power cord for table saw and vac

I have a portable table saw that I use with a small shop-vac for dust collection. Currently, I plug both the saw and the vac into the same extension cord and turn them both on/off individually. While cleaning the dust out from underneath the saw recently, I noticed that there is about a foot of powe...

I left IDPA and having much more fun shooting protection type matches, some with 2nd gun, never go back, 1 IPSC match opened my eyes to the dumb rules. To me I see more leaving than new shooters joining.
What do you mean by "protection type matches"?

Priorities for 2019 legislative session

My thoughts for those things that would have the most significant impact on my day-to-day carry, in priority order: 1.Expand the protection that prohibits a person from being fired just for having a gun in their locked car to also cover licensed carry on the premises, even while at work. In other wo...

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class

How did you find out what number you are on the list? I called them. There was a problem with documents from several of my past classes not uploading correctly, so they didn't have an official record that I met the four-class requirement. I called them to get that straightened out and they told me ...
