The actual relevant legal analysis of this is very straightforward. Was the driver of the vehicle an innocent party, a non-aggressor, who had a reasonable perception of an imminent threat of death or great bodily injury from Garrett foster? If the answer to that question is yes, then his use of deadly defensive force was justified, period. If the answer to that is no, then his use of deadly defensive force is not justified, period.
So this is just a straight up self-defense case has nothing to do with Castle Doctrine, nothing to do with stand your ground, nothing to do with special provisions for the defense of highly defensible property, straight up self-defense.
I used to whole-heartedly believe that. I'm having increasingly serious trouble these days thinking that way, though. Now it seems to be about how a politically-motivated prosecutor can convince a carefully picked jury, weeded out during voir dire to be the most malleable. The rule of law is very close to the edge of being useless in many parts of this nation. I find that both sad and disgusting, but also a powerful motivator to stay out of any large city where the odds of getting into a bad situation increase.

Apparently the Sargent tweeted things on social media that present a view that is not helpful should he be charged with a crime, supposedly. The post were under a screen name, but a communist website has linked it him. The posts have since been taken down.

"In June, when President Donald Trump tweeted that "protesters, anarchists, agitators, looters or lowlifes" protesting in Oklahoma would face "a much different scene" than protesters in New York or Minneapolis, Perry responded from a now-deleted account with the username “@knivesfromtrigu”. The tweet read, "Send them to Texas we will show them why we say don't mess with Texas." That account was identified as being connected to Perry by Tribune of the People, which bills itself as a “revolutionary news service.”"

Here is what the Tribune of the People thinks : (caution if you do not regularly read the other side it could cause stress)

There is a Texas Tribune article talking about this, if you can stomach the obviously biased writing via the use of weasel words along with biased "sources". As always, Mark Twain was right:

"If you don't read the newspapers, you are uninformed. If you do read the newspapers, you are misinformed."

Got a source for this? I have been curious about when APD would release the driver's identity (and wondering whether they would provide police protection to ensure he does not get brutally slaughtered by other BLMs and Antifans).
All I could find was this story about somebody vandalizing a makeshift memorial for the deceased Antifan:

Those people are truly delusional.
I hope they DON'T release the name of the driver. I don't want that person to be threatened and harassed.

It will be interesting to see what comes up in the coming days with this recent shooting in Austin. I would have to think there is more video evidence out there from a crowded Austin street, either from other protesters or from businesses that have cameras. I'm thinking that protesters are not willing to share video as it doesn't support their narrative of what happened.
I'd bet that the Austin PD is no more anxious to find a video that doesn't support the protestors' narrative.
:iagree: I believe the "official narrative" at this point as much as I still believe the original "official narrative" of Goines' and his crew's attack/killing of that couple in Houston. The "official narrative" these days is based on party politics and what the party controlling the area has to lose and/or gain from the event, and whether they have the backing of the mass news media. "Never let a crisis go to waste. By that I mean, you can get things done you didn't think you could get done before" --- Rahm Emmanuel, former CoS for President Barack Obama.

More twisted mass news media garbage. As I stated before, listening to the audio in the video, the first five shots were rifle shots. Then a pause, and three handgun shots. The deceased fired first.

I would speculate:
The person with rifle approached a vehicle and opened fire. The person returned fire and shot the person with the rifle dead.
The article above does note the the shooter is cooperating with investigators. Most likely the car driver surrendered and he claimed the shooting was in self defense. No arrest yet.
Yes, sir, after a couple of listens, I hear two groups of gunshots. First group is five shots, louder than the second group of three shots. That would go along with reports of the deceased having an AK.

Re: TX: one dead at shooting during police protest in downtown Austin tonight

Not much clear info right now. Some claims that members of the "protest group" started beating on a car, prompting the gunshots, others that there was a "verbal confrontation" immediately prior to the shooting. Even if any of that is accurate, pretty much no details. Really, it could have been anyone at this point and for a whole bunch of different reasons.
