Re: Renewal notices?

I actually received two renewal letters from DPS a couple days apart, go figure (maybe they knew I was old and forgetful  ). It was 6 months before my expiration.

Just be aware that your callsign is searchable in the FCC database and will reveal your personal info including your station address.

Re: Ruger lcp

IMHO, it's not the size of the round, it's how you use it, and how comfortable you can carry it. The fact that you have a firearm you can use is much more of a deterrent than that fact you have a cannon and don't like to carry ti, or find its very uncomfortable. I've carried an LCP for years as my E...

Re: Moving to Texas

One possible wrinkle. I am a Texas resident and have a Texas LTC. I also have an IL non-resident CCL. Illinois requires you to have a Texas LTC already to get the non-resident CCL. I'm not sure, but you may be required to have your TX LTC first, before IL will allow you to convert.

In fact, 30.07 does NOT apply to Law Enforcement. It only applies to persons carrying under LTC.

Re: WTB: CAS Holster / Gear

If you wind up having to buy new, I recommend El Paso Saddlery. They make very nice products and are freiendly and responsive. They have a rep who is usually at gun shows around Texas. (I have no relationship with them except as a satisfied customer).

Where are you planning to shoot CAS?

Re: 30.06/7 signs and Parking Lots

As long as your firearm remains locked/concealed in your car, you are not violating 30.06/7. There is even a TX parking lot law which protects you. That being said, do not allow your anti-gun employer to know you are keeping a firearm in your vehicle, or they can terminate you without cause or reaso...

Small, incremental infringements....for the children.

If something new must be done, then focus efforts on identifying youngsters with behavioral problems and molding them into productive teens.
This is actually part of Abbott's proposal.

I will say this about Whataburger - you can get any of their sandwiches on Texas Toast, which IMO makes for a better burger.

Re: In n Out Burger VS Whataburger

None of the chains can hold a candle to local homemade style burger joints. In Waco, we have (in no particular order) some of the best burgers you will ever put in your mouth: Double-R, Cupps, Capt.Billy Whizbang, Tom's. You probalby have one of these places near you too. I lied - you haven't lived ...

Re: US Military Veterans: tattered US flag etiquette question.

If it's personal and private property, I'd go with the MYOB. Public/military institutions should certainly follow flag etiquette.

Personally, I fly a cheapie on my flagpole and replace it when worn. My flags that flew over the U.S. Capitol and my former command when I retired, are kept inside.

I went to school with Ollie North, and I served with him. He sold his soul for thirty pieces of silver. You make your own decision, I have made mine.
