Re: Stolen Airplane... just crashed after a joy ride

I was wrong when I typed that the aircraft used an internal combustion engine, but going lean can still do damage (it's just almost impossible for it to occur to a significant degree). This is what happens when I post without thinking things through or researching. If you have someone who (based on ...

Re: Stolen Airplane... shut down, not crashed.

While I do hold an airman's certificate of sorts (Remote Pilot) I am not really qualified to discuss the aviation aspects of the plane crashing or being shot down. I do know that internal combustion engines do not like to go lean, and considering the aircraft was prop driven you can safely assume it...

Re: Hallsville parent arrested after bringing gun to junior high campus

They didn't say if she was carrying into a building or just on the property, you could have a case of a LEO not knowing or understanding the law (specifically the definition of premises) and making the arrest based on bad knowledge. I know of one local instance where a traffic stop pulled into a sch...

Re: Someone push me...

What radios and antennas do you have at this point? Whatever you have, you'll have much more soon! This hobby is as addicting as guns. Chas. Sorry I didn't see this post earlier Charles, but I think it works out better that I see it now as I am about 85% done with my HF radio install. Functionality...

Re: Someone push me...

I should have the repeater up by October and I'll get the TexasCHLforum net going soon after. I'll have it available by AllStar, Echlink and possibly IRLP so anyone can get in regardless of their location. Chas. Not to hijack the thread, but where will you locate the repeater? Would be nice to use ...

Re: First known use of drone in attack on head of state

The M600 from dji is an older customizable bird and may have had its gps hardware disabled or removed to get around the DJI software that might have prevented it from flying in that location. In that case an unskilled operator would have a hard time controlling, much less flying accurately. The arti...

Re: The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’

For those who are hoping that Charles will provide some insight on this, don't hold your breath because I doubt we will hear from him on this issue for quiet some time. First off , from the times I talked with him on my podcast when I was doing it he always made sure that listeners knew he was not s...

Re: Someone push me...

Got my ticket today, been busy trying to get a radio installed into the Jeep so I have not successfully made contact with anyone yet. Also feeling sick and suffering from an extraordinary level of exhaustion so I doubt I will attempt tonight. Thanks everyone!

Edit to add my call sign is KI5BBY.

Re: Car repair

I am leaning towards it's probably damage to the wiring from age or rodents. A gauge, especially in a car this old, is almost a requirement if you plan to drive it much. Keep in mind that repairs over the years may have been less than ideal too, a damaged wire may have been repaired by cutting, stri...

Re: Car repair

I would recommend a purely mechanical unit that uses a copper thermocouple that runs from the engine to the guage. If you have to drill a hole in the firewall be sure to use a rubber grommet to protect the thermocouple or wires (I would recommend simply punching a small hole in an existing rubber gr...

Re: Four years in jail for killing police officer, no-knock raid, no drugs found, no trial yet

Some quick thoughts:
How much of this delay has been at the request of his Attorney?
Has his attorney filed motions to proceed with the trial or objected to the delays?
Has his attorney filed appeals for denied motions or objections, and when were they filed?

Re: Android Phone Randomly Goes Directly to Voicemail

Now that is weird, perhaps you can find an app to monitor your connection to your carrier and see if it is having any intermittent issues.
