Somewhat related but I remember watching the movie Texas Killing Fields a few years back regarding this very thing. Pretty good movie from what I remember and I see it's streaming for free on a few platforms.

I think this is mislabeled as a carjacking but in either case, know the laws of your state and know ahead of time if the risk is worth the consequences.
