Re: The independant nation of CHAZ

I live in the area. Well, I’m separated from Seattle by quite a bit of water since I’m on an island. Washington has a history of these attempts at anarchist utopias that the government just kind of ignores. It’s a very different breed of folks here, in general. It’s a strange blend of leftism, anar...

Re: Finally licensed in WA

Out of curiosity, why’d you move up there? A number of reasons. My wife has health conditions that make the Texas heat very debilitating for her. I was getting burned out by urban life. Having multiple streams of income (pastor, chaplain, professor) was also taking its toll. I looked for other oppo...

Finally licensed in WA

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I moved from Dallas to Oak Harbor, WA almost 2 years ago. I finally got around to getting licensed to carry (concealed), here. OC is allowed without a license. I haven’t carried since I got here since WA doesn’t recognize my Texas license (which is now non-reside...

Re: Florida Approved CHL Wothout Background Checks

A mailroom manager in the Florida Department of Agriculture was assigned the task in addition to the regular duties of managing the mailroom. It sounds like the whole system is a big mess. They don’t have a dedicated department for it. The whole process sounds like it’s add on duties to employees of...

Re: Washington Open Carry

Cool, where abouts were you? I just moved up here to Washington (Whidbey Island). It was a change of pastoral venue for me (served 11 years in Dallas). I'm a Texan through and through but my wife can no longer medically handle the heat (she had heat stroke in infancy along with another lifelong medi...

Moved out of state

Hey fellow LTC holders, I'm officially a Texan in exile. I just moved to Whidbey Island in Washington State. I took a new pastorate up here. Getting a Concealed carry license here is rather straightforward and not too tedious (shall issue state, no classes, just need to pass background check and be ...

Re: OPEN CARRY WHILE ON A MOTORCYCLE?

I've done it many times. I remember, a few months after OC passed, I was OC's on the bike. At a stoplight, a lady pulled up next to me in a crossover SUV that was decked out in political stickers that typically signal an anti-gun bias even if there is no anti-gun bias sticker (which I saw after we p...

Re: Contact with Tool PD

I live just south of Tool and it is a notorious speed trap. You can tell the locals from the non-locals by the way they drive. The last time I got pulled over was several years ago in Tool. I was heading south on 274 on cruise control doing 55 MPH and he lit me up in front of the grade school so I ...

Southeast of town might fit the bill. Seagoville south of Seagoville Rd. or Crandall may fit the bill. You could also try Forney.

Re: Contact with Tool PD

I was pulled over the other day on Texas 274 near Tool. I was carrying. I work in hospice as a chaplain. Everyone on my team (nurses, social workers, CNAs, marketers, volunteers, office workers, etc.) gets pulled over around Cedar Creek Lake a couple times a year. I don't have cruise control so I s...

Re: that LEO is a TOOL

However, that, the LTC, and the "I'm on my way to bring comfort to a dying person and his family" when asked what I was doing around the lake (I live in Dallas) did not result in no ticket. Just my opinion but that's pretty weak by the LEO... if the guy is dying, he may have caused you to...

Re: Contact with Tool PD

Sorry to hear about the ticket. If I may make a suggestion, get yourself a radar/lidar detector. I typically do not intentionally speed either, but like you, sometimes my attention wanders and I find myself exceeding the speed limit. The alerts sounded by the radar detector help to keep me honest. ...
