Re: Don't need to show LTC to LEO when carrying.

So here's how the law reads: [GC §411.205. REQUIREMENT TO DISPLAY LICENSE. If a license holder is carrying a handgun on or about the license holder’s person when a magistrate or a peace officer demands that the license holder display identification, the license holder shall display both the license...

Re: TX: armed robber with bb gun faces real gun

Has been on the local radio a lot, doesn't sound like charges are even being considered, as they shouldn't be. Confronted with a gun I would be in fear for my life, if it might be a toy later wouldn't even cross my mind.

TX: armed robber with bb gun faces real gun

Sad that the clerk has to live with it forever but at least they protected themselves.

Re: Gun for a new shooter

Almost any 9MM compact to full size should feel like soft shooter to her. A CZ Berretta, or Glock have lots of options. 9MMS 1911s are pretty soft shooters. The only small 9 I have any experience with was an original lc9. That thing had crazy muzzle flip, but I think if I could ever get her confide...

I highly recommend a SW M&P Shield EZ. I just qualified for my Texas LTC with it. As a small woman, it is easy on recoil, easy to rack and easy to strip and clean. Low in price, too.
I considered this option, i would imagine they are great to shoot.

Re: Gun for a new shooter

My humble opinion, a 1911 isn't a good choice for a new shooter, they should get use to the recoil from a lighter round, then graduate to something heavier! But you know the person your teaching so I place that in your hands! The 1911 wasn't really what I would want to use, but I do think it is the...

Re: Gun for a new shooter

Any friends or family with different caliber guns? Borrow from them, try .32, 380, 9mm, 38, Etc.... That might be an option, have to ask around to see who has what. My original plan was to use my 1911 since the recoil isn't too bad, but I shot it some last weekend for the first time in a couple of ...

Maybe take her to a range where 5she can shoot different pistols and different calibers, maybe she'll find one she likes!
That would be great if there was a range anywhere close to where we live. Small town so it would be a couple hour drive to a real range.

Gun for a new shooter

My SO has been thinking about learning to shoot a pistol and getting her ltc, however she is scared of recoil. She is comfortable with rifles but not pistols. I have a 22 she can practice with but for a next step all mine have too much recoil for her. I have a 1911 45, XDm 4.5 40, and LCP. I'm consi...

Re: School teacher quiz

My brother's girlfriend is a middle school teacher, she isn't opposed to carry but has definitely been looking for different door locking solutions for her classroom. I start Monday as maintainence for a school district, will be on all campuses wherever/whenever needed I would love to be able to car...

Re: Ruger lcp

I carry a LCP in my back pocket most of the time, it's small light and unobtrusive. When I go to cities with more population I carry an XD-M 40 so that I have more capacity and a bigger caliber where the likelihood of needing it is statistically higher. I'm decent with the XD out to 40-50 yards. A t...

Re: Active Shooter reported at Santa Fe High School

I just accepted a job at our local school in maintenance, one of my biggest fears is something like this happening and not being able to do anything to stop it. As far as I can tell the district does not allow anyone to carry on campus, and as I am being provided a district vehicle to drive back and...

Re: Magnetic Vehicle Mount

Friend of mine lives in an apartment complex in Katy, has a metal front door and when he is home he said he keeps his glock 22 on a magnet on the back of the door. From what he said no matter how hard he slams the door the gun doesn't move.
