OP, how did the event turn out yesterday? After I reread your post, it seems you weren't at a correctional facility at all, but rather their training building. You should have been A-OK, no?

How about Texas PC 46.035:
Sec. 46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER
