I manage a self-storage facility. On the day of the eclipse last year, 21 Aug 17 (hotter than blazes then) IIRC I was stepping out the front door of the office when I saw something dart under the bushes. Turned out to be a 4 week-old kitten:
She was bony and scared and had a damaged nose, and her lower lip was torn away from her chin a bit. Vet said that was common injury for kittens the fall or are thrown (grrr!) from cars - they land on their faces on the pavement.
In the picture Rowdy, now 11 months, is flagrantly violating the rules about cats on tables, which is par for the course for a cat.
She's waiting to see if I am going to bounce her off on the floor.When I first found her she was so scared she growled and struck out at everybody. Took her about two days to figure out that when she went home with me she had hit a homerun, became sweet as pie. Ever since she has stuck to me like glue, I can hardly walk through the house because she's wrapped around my ankle.
Dunno how to rotate the pix yet, will work on that.
