Re: Ohio CHL Visiting Texas

I'll put faith in the formal legal advice I solicited as opposed to assurance from someone on a forum about someone else on the forum, aye. I urge you to take the same position when it comes to legal advice. However, I am sure that the person you refer to does not, in fact, generally give legal advi...

Re: CA Judges must disavow Boy Scouts

Unfortunately, many BSA troops are discriminatory on the basis of religion and sexuality. The same is not true of the Girl Scouts, by the way. BSA merely needs to clean up its act and this all goes away, as it is they are facing lawsuits and rightly so. Your beliefs are your business but they don't ...

Re: TX resident with NV CCW

Definitely! And as above, welcome to Texas! Just make sure you are in accordance with all the Texas laws and provisions as that is what applies while here. I am sure you know that but don't be blindsided by not 'mentally clearing out' anything from Nevada that is not correct here. For example, you a...

In fairness to them, they may well be investigating, even instructing before getting back to you with what they found / did in response to your concern.

Re: CHL to THL?

It's in the act; Handgun Licence.

In reality, I suspect CHL will live on for a while as people get used to it and I think THL might well become the preferred acronym, just because only two letters will feel wrong after all these years of three for CHL.

Re: How Did Texas Become Known As a Gun-Friendly State?

Part of the myth (Wild West) comes from the "Westernization" of Texas, which historically was really more "Dixie" than "Wild West", in fact. East Texas still has lots of cotton in it, back in the day it was part of the so-called "King Cotton" industry of the s...

Rosario's - S Alamo @ S St Mary's serves a much better and broader cuisine than the typical Tex Mex, with some unique interior Mexican dishes on the menu, but also plenty of classic Tex Mex Paesanos - good local Italian chain, with locations on Riverwalk, Alamo Quarry area, and Stone Oak (Loop 1604...

Re: Montana: 70 years for man who shot thief

You're right, I was too sweeping with the term "use of force" but aye, trespass alone is definitely not a situation where you may use actual deadly force. I seem to recall a lawyer (from [Pre-paid legal service], in fact) advising that you could threaten to shoot (use of force) but not act...

Re: Texas3006 called out in public testimony period?

Sure wish the 30.06 would go away period. The Law of it anyways PC30.06 will not go away. BUT there's a bill in committee right now, HB308, that will significantly impact where we can/cannot carry, by allowing CHL's to carry in places where we currently cannot. http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLo...

Re: Texas3006 called out in public testimony period?

Not too malicious, but at least 3006.com is living, rent free, in his head! I hope his head is a peaceful place! I'd like to visit one day  Unfortunately for him though I've already registered texas3007.com so that, if this bill passes, I can continue the legacy of documenting businesses that...

And we all know who will be picking up that tab.
In which case, the solution is clear; don't post 30.06 signage and you won't have to assume the responsibility and cost of providing the protection you took away from the public.

Re: Does WalMart have a new policy?

Seems like ignorance of what the actual law is, combined with confusing the group issue (which relates to alcohol sales). You can posess pistol ammunition (and indeed the pistol), in your own right, if you are over 18 although per GCA 1968 you cannot actually purchase it yourself. However, I am almo...

Not sure if I am too late to the party, but Mi Tierra is fantastic! I really don't rate Alamo Cafe. I will second the comment about Jim's, though, far and away the best "American Diner" type chain we have here. Enjoy!

Re: Dog shot at Houston Dog Park

Leash laws are indeed municipality based, but if a dog is not under its owner's control and presents a threat to you, others or your property (dog) you are going to be justified in use of force, including deadly force, to stop it. I hope it doesn't happen to me (I have two Huskies and we walk them i...
