Re: New to the forum, Central Texas!

Hello, I'm new to the forum. Lots of good ideas and tips here, glad I typed in "texas chl" on google. Currently I give back to our nation's disabled vets by working with medical equipment while I work on becoming a cop (in the process of background check). I currently own a Remington R1 1...

Re: Adware plague with audio.

I use the Windows PC just for certain tasks and it resides on a secluded VLAN. My private and business applications and data is on a hardened Linux machine and isolated from the Windows PC. Don't get me wrong but when I update the virus definition of any product, by the time the full scan is comple...

Re: Adware plague with audio.

Bitdefender is a pretty solid virus/malware/adware/etc program. You'll pay a pretty penny for it, but I'd definitely recommend their total defense, I believe that's what it's call, one. It comes with tons of different stuff than just the basic free ones you can download anywhere. Also has a thing ca...

Re: How Long Should It Take?

You'd really think that they'd either hire more people or find a way to streamline the entire process. Like maybe allowing the regional DPS offices to do concealed handguns like they do driver's licenses, could probably lower the wait time from 4-6 weeks to maybe 2-4 weeks, which is totally managea...

Re: CHL & Your Church

I thought it was only stores that gain 51% of their revenue from alcohol, schools, racetracks, sporting events, and polling places/federal buildings where you can't carry period, and anywhere else that has a 30.06 sign and soon to be 30.07 sign? I don't recall churches being on that list. Because th...

Re: Petition to the Governor and the Texas DPS.

No problem. My application, back in late 2007, took about 75 days to complete. I had to send them additional documentation to prove my citizenship (I'm an American, born overseas), and I didn't even get the notice for that until after 40-some days had passed. I find that as I get older, I get a lit...

Re: Petition to the Governor and the Texas DPS.

I've been on the forum for a few days, as I've just recently finished all my Concealed Handgun requirements for getting the license, and there's been a few things that I've noticed: Several people have been waiting for longer than the four to six weeks set by law, and this honestly kind of both dis...

Re: "Waiting Room"

Been keeping track of this forum for 1-2 weeks waiting for CHL, thought I would post my timeline, seems like DPS was pretty quick though. I decided to get my CHL with the recent gun friendly TX congress, the anticipation was killing me spending 140$ as a grad student was a rather large chuck of my ...
