Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

I’m now undecided if I’m going to transfer my SBR’d upper over to the new Manticore Arms/CZ USA bullpup stock, or just buy anothe carbine to convert with the stock (or wait till CZ starts selling them as factory rifles). Either way I’m getting one.

Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

Oh boy, can’t wait to see the barrel on its return.

Did you happen to see where HBI is now selling their own K length barrels that have the three lug machines into it along with 1/2x28 threads? Wish those had been around earlier as I’d have opted for that over the three lug adaptor I have on mine.

So unless I’m missing something, I don’t see an advantage there. But I can see how it would make switching from pistol to pistol, or carbine to carbine easier.......just not from pistol to carbine or visa versa.
I wouldn’t recommend a 3 lug on a pistol simply because the recoil with the Nielsen Device could do funky things with the 3 lug engagement. I’ve never heard of it happening, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Plus, it just looks weird on a pistol.

Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

The Annoyed Man wrote: Thu Jun 07, 2018 10:16 am Edited to add...... is there any other reason than convenience for using a locking lug type of mount for a suppressor? I have an Obsidian pistol suppressor, and it is direct thread mounted. Are the lug type mounts as secure in terms of keeping the can concentric to the bore?
I'll echo what Scott said on the subject. At least in the case of the 3-lug mount, I shouldn't have to worry about it backing off after an extended string of fire. Couple that with the easy on/off attachment and it makes for easily swapping between pistol caliber carbines. Rugged makes a very nice 3-lug adapter for your Obsidian (I have an Obsidian and the adapter in addition to my Octane) in case you ever have the desire to suppress something in this vein down the road.

As far as the lockup, yes, very positive lockup and keeps the can nice and tight without any wiggle.

Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

^^^Nice. I know you said you’re not the biggest fan of the color, but I kind of like it. As you noted doing a light coat of a brown or something over top might not look too bad either.

Here’s my completed Scorpion SBR sporting the HBIndusties Micro K handguard and barrel profile.

When I had the barrel (CZ Custom) chopped I also had it threaded so I could put a 3 lug adaptor on it. This lets me run a suppressor under a longer handguard (I also have the pistol length you have on yours) with ease.

Only thing I still need is a low profile handstop and a Parker Mountain Machine rear sling mount.

Ha, I love it. I SBR'd one of those Aero Texas lowers too, just felt right.

I like the Scorpion as well. I had a pistol barrel cut down to the HBI Micro/k configuration length, and paired it up with a new trunion. Now I just need to have the extractor notch machined into the trunion/barrel. Once that's done I should have a nice short package. Can't wait.

Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

I opted for the Switchback because I wasn't sure which profile I wanted. Turns out I like the "no bump" backstrap.

HBI has tested and guarantees functionality down to 5.5" to match up with their K handguards. Several folks over on CZ forum have gone down to 4.5" without issue. As to the accuracy I'm interested as well, at least out to ~50 yards or so. Beyond that as long as I can hit a man-sized target at 100 yards or so that's fine with me.

I have numerous other SBRs (a 12.5" .308 being my newest) to play with for now, but yes, I can't want to have a 9mm to add into the mix.

Re: CZ Scorpion Pistol to SBR

Very nice. I'm waiting on my Form 1 filed back in early July to convert my carbine to an SBR. I have a HBI handguard like yours (though flat not slanted front) and a Yeti Werks grip (way more comfortable than the CZ grip). I'm planning on having a pistol barrel cut down to about 4.5" and threaded 1/2x28 for a three lug adaptor next time we're down in DFW (Class 3 Machining. I'd love to have the three lug machined right into the barrel, but not quite enough OD to do it. This should tuck my Octane or Obsidian neatly under the handguard. I'll post pics when its complete, shouldn't be too long before I have the stamp in hand.

Also, did you see where Prepper Gun Shop has the Manticore designed 32-round smoke mags with the metal feed lips in-stock? I've got a couple of these headed my way as we speak.
