Re: Nervous LTC test

Definitely take your time during the test (...but don't go over time for each engagement..). I'd suggest having someone set a 2 second timer, & practice getting off your first shot (dry firing) within that 2 seconds, & practice until you can get it under 2 seconds without moving the sights off your ...

Re: Wife Sick with Cancer.

There will be difficult days brother. Few of us can even fathom what you are experiencing. Please try to remember the years you had each other as best friends, confidants, and the love you shared. The past three years do not define your time together here on earth; God blessed her with a husband who...

Re: Wife Sick with Cancer.

I am very sorry for your loss. This will undoubtedly be a period of time for grieving, but also lean on your faith in God and reflect on the wonderful times he gave you together, and praise that she is now at peace. We will all be praying for you, your family, and all that knew her for the strength ...

Re: Does "...at any time..." really mean ANY time?

Lisa, Welcome to the forum! To be a little more clear to the point that (I believe) Keith was trying to make, I don't believe the DPS has an inherent 'right' to review any medical records they want to (without a court order). However, as part of the LTC application process, you will sign a waiver gr...

Re: CA: SanDiego synagogue target of vest wearing shooter, 1 dead 3 wounded, stopped by GG with gun

The article says the nutcase was wearing a 'tactical vest' & a helmet. It's not clear if 'tactical vest' = 'body armor'. The article also says the nutcase may have had a malfunction, which may have limited the casualty count. I'm wondering if the off duty Border Patrol agent's rounds may have came q...

"When you fail to enforce the standard, you just set a new (lower) standard" CSM Rufus Brown (circa 1995) When I was a young NCO at Ft Hood, our Battalion Command Sergeant Major, who was a stoic Vietnam veteran of few words, pulled all of the NCOs together for a 'talking to' after a series of less t...

Praying that your words today brought some peace to your family & those who knew your nephew. And may God also bring you peace as well, as you decompress from comforting others.

Re: Switching to wheel guns this year

Wow! Very nice videos (on top of some really good shooting, especially under all the conditions you outlined), & great for being able to AAR yourself. I'd offer a minor suggestion. Following your reloads, try to re-aquire a solid grip (consistency is key to good shooting). I noticed you were slaying...

Re: App. process time if I recently held LTC in Washington st?

The FBI requires a new set every time. A license from another state is irrelevant to the Texas process. :smash: Not always. I think it depends on the quality of the prints on file, and since Texas (mostly) uses digital prints, once they have a good set, you should be OK. I just renewed recently and...

Re: Changing to Revolver for IDPA & Insteresting Ammo Info

I've never chrono'd pistol ammo, but temperature change has an effect on muzzle velocity. A drop in temp will cause a drop in MV, more for some powders than with others. (And conversely, a rise in temp = a rise in MV). It doesn't require -40° F weather, but I'd imagine at that temp I wouldn't be out...

Impressive.

Re: Texas-made trauma clamp being discussed at CoTCCC

Interesting, but typically arteries are fairly deep! Only a few places are they near the surface! What I was taught that a tourniquet is last ditch effort to keep the patient from bleeding to death! When placing a tourniquet you are sacrificing the limb below the tourniquet! Apparently, you can mai...

Re: Texas-made trauma clamp being discussed at CoTCCC

The EMS agency I work for have been using the IT Clamp for almost 3 years now. They work well for scalp lacerations that are difficult to dress with bandaging and for avulsions. The patients have tolerated them well. The idea is not to clamp and artery or vein. It holds he skin in place allowing a ...

If you're willing to travel to the Austin/Dripping Springs/Wimberley area, I can help you. However, I'm pretty sure there's more than a few SSC Instructors up in your area. I'm not sure how updated this list is, but here's the link to the DPS' list of SSC Instructors (at the bottom, below the list o...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2ZpNCPnfkw Nice video, & awesome thread. Always good to see people pushing themselves to excel! Obviously you know what your doing, & shooting well within the 5 second standard / A Zone. If you wouldn't mind a bit of feedback, I'd recommend applying a little more fo...
