Re: Called out in church on my CC

I have not gone unarmed in church since I got my LTC two years ago. Now I might start thinking about carrying spare magazines though.

we need to invent interchangeable hooks for holsters..... hmmmmm :headscratch
belt clips serve, kinda by accident, as sort of an ID badge for members of a secret society of concealed carriers.

Oldgringo wrote:I see terms such as Steward, Elder and various Pastoral ranks mentioned throughout this thread. In our small FUMC, we have a Pastor and a Choir Director. What size and what denominations are y'all talkin' about that has all of these middle and upper management positions runnin' the show?

With all due respect, just askin'.....
We are small congregation, usually have maybe 70 or 80 people in worship, and steward is not a job title or a position in our church, I should not have capitalized it, but it is the term that he used to indicate that he takes some degree of responsibility for people who are coming and going. However, the term is often used as a catch all for people who participate as ushers, greeters, pastors, teachers, worship leaders, secretaries, clerks, administrators, committee chairs, committee members, cleaning team, etc.

This Sunday after Church, our Pastor, our head Elder, myself and a few other members of our congregation had a match shoot at our local outdoor range. We have a scheduled competition with one of the local churches in our area as well.

One of our members is a certified range safety officer and tactical instructor as well. We did almost an hour of holster draw and fire training (using snap caps) before our shoot.

Needless to say we don't have much of a church bowling club :???:

BTW, New member here and first post. Learned more here than I did in my LTC class last week. Instructor was too busy pushing LTC insurance.

You are not the only one.
I certainly was surprised.

I don't get it, just in case what???? if you decide to shoot up the place or if all heck breaks loose. please elaborate.
This is what I was left wondering. Why is the reason he wants to know who all has guns? I am not a threat, and I am not a security guard either. I will have to listen to the Lord's leading and decide when to act when confronted with a situation to defend innocent churchgoers. I carry a gun primarily for defense of my wife, kids, and self.

The Sr. Pastor knows that I CC every Sunday. The associate Pastor yesterday noticed me while I was sitting down in my pew and saw me "printing". I was carrying my Sig P239 in a Comp-Tac MTac IWB holster with my shirt tucked in. I had black clips over a black belt.

He asked me right then and there before the service was set to begin "Are you packin'?". I was caught off guard and tried to blow it off, but he pressed the issue. "Are you carrying a gun?" So I just said, "Yeah, yes I am." I hadn't really thought about how I would respond if anyone asked me about it, and I wish that I had.

He said that as a Steward of the church that he just wants to know where the guns are just in case or something like that. And then that was that.

I am debating whether or not the next time I see him that I should bring it up again and let him know that I've carried a gun in church every week for nearly 2 years......
I wouldn't say another word about it. He knows you carry a self-defense handgun and is apparently okay with that, if not outright pleased. The issue is closed and I wouldn't re-open it.

Chas.
This is probably the tact that I will take. The way that he had asked me about it kinda frustrated me. I wish that he had waited to ask until after service or maybe in a more private setting. He was asking relatively quietly, but there were other people around who may have overheard.

I am certain that he is not and never has been an LEO. He may be LTC, that I'm not certain of, but I hadn't ever really suspected it.

I'm pretty sure that he saw the grip of the weapon while I was bending over to sit down. Also I had on a well-fitted solid color dress shirt. I usually wear a looser fit shirt with a pattern and often leave it untucked. But I had work this particular shirt several times before.

Called out in church on my CC

I've been concealed carrying in church now for almost 2 years, and to my knowledge no one has noticed or at least no one has said anything.
