During the 60s the DCM sold some surplus M1 Carbines. My mom bought one for around $15. It's previous [GI} owner carved up the stock a little, but my mom
spent many hours sanding it down and refinishing the entire stock. Later on she gave it to me. I enjoyed shooting it. I didn't shoot it very often and I ended
it up gifting it to a friend who helped me move from California to Texas. Sometimes I regretted giving it away, but he was a good friend who helped me out
when I really needed it.
