Re: Repeal the 2nd Amendment

This is what happens when we deliberately fail to teach history to our younger generations.

From the beginning of time, the strong controlled the weak. They promised protection and relative prosperity in exchange for fealty and servitude. There were rulers and there were subjects. Then along came some radical thinkers like Locke and Paine with crazy notions like people not needing to be subservient to rulers, and that people could choose governments that worked at the people's behest, instead of the other way around.

The founders of this country took these ideas and ran with them. They enjoyed comfort and prosperity and yet they risked all that they owned, along with their very lives on a grand experiment to see if this notion of self government could actually work. They declared that whenever a government becomes destructive of the people's rights, it is the right, and even the obligation, of the people to overthrow that government and institute a new one in it's place. Once they had won independence, these same people enumerated a number of rights, including the right to keep and bear arms. Along with freedom of speech and other rights, this gave the people the means to fulfill that obligation which was so eloquently stated in the Declaration of Independence. This is the reason why the second amendment was included in the Bill of Rights.

And that still leaves open the question of whether we continue to need the ability to resist a tyrannical government. Do we still need freedom of speech, the right to due process, and the right to keep and bear arms? Or have we evolved enough as a society that we no longer have reason to fear that our government will trample on our rights? Personally, I think it is obvious that we cannot trust our government with absolute, unchecked, power. And I think most people feel the same way, even those who voted for Hillie in the last election. The problem is that they do not understand the real background behind the Bill of Rights. They do not understand the connection between gun bans and the inevitable rise of tyranny.

I feel it is important to point out that I am not advocating for the overthrow of our government. I am simply pointing out that we need to maintain the ability to do so, or to at least put up a meaningful level of resistance to potential oppression.

Raising the driving age to 25 would save a ton of lives. That also would not violate anyone's fundamental human rights as guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution. Why aren't these kiddos starting with that particular piece of low hanging fruit? Could it be that they are only worried about things that don't impact them personally?
They are children being led around by politically savvy manipulators. Because they are children, logic and reason are not fully developed, even more the case in those who are in the education system which is no longer interested in creating independent thinkers full of knowledge and facts.

These children are not the problem, the problem is that progressive socialists are using mind numbed and traumatized children to pursue their agenda of complete power over the people.
"Never let a crisis go to waste". It's straight out of the Socialist play book circa Hussein Obama's reign.
