Can anyone confirm my thought? When looking at the DPS data posted up string, is it true that the total convictions is not a # of individuals? For instance if someone is arrested and convicted of robbing 2 homes it could be that one person makes up both BURGLARY OF HABITATION convictions on the report?

Yes, that's true for anyone. One person can be convicted of more than one crime, and each conviction counted, but, not necessarily the same number of people.

And then there’s the DPS stats:
https://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/LTC/reports/convrates.htm

0.3819% for 2017

That's up a little bit. :totap:
I so wish there was a related bit of research available with this conviction data ...Like the case numbers used to build the conviction numbers.

Deadly conduct
Unlawful carrying
Murder
what were those cases about?

I don't know where you would access it, or if you would have to do an open records request, but, if an LTC holder is convicted, of any felony, his LTC is revoked. There also has to be a reason given, for the revocation. If the reason is "convicted, of murder" , then it would be a simple way to locate that person's case. I don't know if these records are available, but it might give you a way to look up the cases. JMHO
