I like to go a step further, city submits a layout of the building to be posted along with photos, and the State decides if the building can be posted or what area of the building can be posted, the State issues the proper number of signs, bills the city $100 per sign and the city must renew every four years, must resubmit plans and photos following any remodelling!
Very similar to what any entity, that wants to be permitted by the TABC must do. I think something like this could work. It would avoid, having to go through the hassles of having the AG office investigating complaints, the city/county would have documentation showing that they are in compliance, and tax payer funded lawsuits could be avoided.

Welcome to the forum!
Yes! Welcome to the forum. Take some time to look through some of the topics, regarding 30.06 and 30.07 signage, rules for posting said signage on publicly owned buildings, and the thought processes behind posting signs that only carry the weight of law for LTC holders. No one here wants to denigrate your or your city, but, we are very cognizant, of the laws, and how some places, erroneously place signs, out of fear, or a misunderstanding of what those signs mean.
We are ready, willing, and able to discuss, any issues, and we even welcome those with differing viewpoints.

Re: The city of Southmayd.

Those signs prevent criminals from carrying guns into the court rooms? Must be some pretty amazing signs!! I need to find out where they purchased them then I could prevent all crime with magic signs!!
:rules: "rlol" "rlol"

Good luck OP, sounds like the mayor has anger, and maturity issues. What he doesn't realize, is that if the entire building is for court rooms, or court business, then he is in compliance. There is no need to get so angry, unless he is afraid they will make him move signs and just put them on the court room doors.
Still want to know how those signs stop criminals though.

Sincerely,
The Honorable Mayor of Southmayd,Texas
David Turner
This part gets to me, and it is prevalent in similar situations we see here. My interpretation is not, "the greatest amount of freedom allowed by law," but, "the least amount of freedom allowed by law". I don't consider that very honorable either.

Good on you for moving forward! :txflag:
Jeff

That and the " we are just a small town" plaint, that he hopes excludes them from these big city laws.
Keep us updated, hopefully, if we get enough changes enforced, it will prevent other cities from doing the same thing.

Re: The city of Southmayd.

Sounds like they are at least open to your information. Better than most.
In Johnson county, annex, there are only signs posted on the JP courtroom door, and temporary signs posted in the area, where polling takes place, during elections. The county clerk, constables office etc, are not posted.

Glad you took the time to provide them with the info, it may simply be a case of not being informed, and no one pointed it out.
