Re: Jump with no Parachute

Reminds me of an apocryphal, untrue but amusing story about the Gurkha. The story went that a British officer was detailing a mission to a group of Gurkhas. They were to be air dropped behind enemy lines from 1200 feet, to secure an objective. Surprisingly, there was some muttering in the ranks abou...

Re: IN: Tampa plastic surgeon dies after jet fuel put in prop plane

The article said he thought the Piper Aerostar “looked” like a jet!
He probably meant that the Piper Aerostar looked like a turboprop plane, which has jet engines that drive propellors...a less outrageous mistake.

Thank God no one there has a gun - that guy with the knife might have gotten hurt.

Does anybody have any follow-up information? Was the assailant charged with attempted murder The shooter, RIchard Lindem, was charged with 3rd degree felony child abuse, aggravated assault, and discharging a firearm. He was heavily intoxicated when arrested. Interestingly, the father was interviewe...

Re: AL: Clerk with own gun runs off armed robbers

In very extreme intense situations my brain seams to slow down time and automatically know what to do, yeah im sure most of you are saying "bull" but it's the truth. I don't doubt that you experience the sensations, but research shows that it's an illusion - it doesn't enable you to make more or fa...

Unless they had been gone for days or weeks your dogs aren't gonna look starved and abused. That's the difference. Keep them and keep quite. I agree 100% in this particular case, that the OP should keep and take care of these two dogs. But, I have personal experience that things aren't always so cu...

Re: My new hobby

My hobby leans more towards seeing how many swear words Indian telemarketers know. Also my best time so far is 23 minutes of keeping them on the phone before they realize I’m screwing with them. I love doing this. I got one of them so upset that he told me my address, and said he was going to send ...

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston

It happens. We once found a spider monkey sitting on the curb near Alabama and Mandell (a middlin' centralish part of Houston). We couldn't find anyone in the neighborhood looking for it, so one of my friends adopted it and it lived in the dorm at Rice for a few years, until graduation (ours, not hi...

Re: TX: Houston food delivery man shoots teen robber at night

Good point in reference to the use of commas. However, it seems to me that this is a form of squares and rectangles. All robberies are theft, but not all thefts are robberies. So, are you asserting that you can only legally use deadly force to recover property from an armed robbery during the night...

In that line, the ""during the nighttime" only qualifies "theft". The other crimes are good for deadly force, day or night.

Re: LAw regarding armed robbery - what does "imminent" mean?

I thought it was a daytime, nighttime thing. Daytime No. Night time Yes.
Daytime/Nightime applies to theft. This is armed robbery - no daytime/nighttime limits there.
