I wonder who it was who placed the casings? Someone for campus carry or someone opposed trying to fan the flames of dissent?
My bet would be on the "honorable" opposition. Seems very suspicious that one professor found two of the casings. On a side note what does a "rhetoric professor" teach?

As far as the liberal activist and the singer/songwriter - I'm glad they cancelled. The less liberals on campus indoctrinating instead of educating the better.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

These professors should, in exchange, be willing to reveal their voting record and their personal beliefs about any subject that their students feel is necessary to them to receive full "academic freedom" from the professors.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

I'm not a lawyer and didn't even sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but my reading of the judges ruling seems to pretty much cover all the points of why the 3 liberal witch doctors will lose this case.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

I hope the judge doesn't issue a decision prior to class starting - forcing those 3 professors to either teach their class and allow LTC concealed carry or boycotting their duties as employees of UTA.

Can the university not fire them for suing them? I know if I sued my employer I'd be canned immediately. Who would want to continue to give a job to an employee that is costing you thousands (or 10's of thousands) of dollars and taking you to court?!
Probably because they have tenure and it's almost impossible to get rid of malcontents and other communists once they have tenure.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

We just do not want guns in our classrooms; we have a well-trained police force in the city of Austin and on campus. I trust our first responders to protect us.”
And these are the people indoctrinating, I mean educating, our children and grandchildren. What a bunch of morons.

It would be great if the Austin Police testified in court to the fact that according to the Supreme Court it is not the police's job to protect the citizens.

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

UCLA Law Professor and constitutional expert Eugene Volokh dismissed that idea in a conversation with the Observer last week.

"The law doesn’t violate the First Amendment, because it isn’t at all targeted at restricting speech," he said in an email. "I’m skeptical about the plaintiffs’ claims that concealed carry by lawful license holders will materially chill people’s freedom of discussion. I don’t think it does in public places, and I don’t think it will in universities. But in any event that hypothetical risk isn’t enough to invalidate Texas’s decision about gun rights."

Nor does campus carry violate, as the professors claim, their Second Amendment rights, according to Volokh. (The part about arms being a right only for members of a well-regulated militia.) "The state has broad authority to allow carrying of guns, including by drawing lines that allow carrying in universities but not in some other places," Volokh said.
Does anyone here have access to PACER to see if there's been any movement on the lawsuit yet? Has the court asked the defendants to file their reply brief by a certain date?
When someone from la-la land and a professor at UCLA disagrees with your lawsuit, then you must be way off base!

That's a person who showed up late to register for "Associate Professor of Basket Weaving."

Using the term "institution of higher learning" in referring to public universities is becoming an oxymoron.

The entire federal education system is nothing but an indoctrination system these days.
