The NYT as an organization believes in gun control and attempts to convince others to adopt that mindset. If you move past the pretense that it is a news organization, then their role as a strongly left-leaning magazine with a focus upon public events becomes pretty obvious. They absolutely have a right to print their opinions, as we have the right to disagree. The frustration arises, I think, from the error of calling their publication "journalism" when it is plainly opinion.
