Re: Lawn care suggestions...

I confess that I am at a loss regarding lawn care issues ever since we moved back in 2017, and I could sure use some suggestions. When we first moved to this house, our front lawn wasn’t perfect , but it was respectably good. Today, 2 years later, it is shot through with all manner of weeds; the St...

Re: EDC knife

Ontario is a brand I have considered, and will again. I can't help but wonder if their name confuses folks, so I thought I'd copy and paste the first paragraph concerning their history. "The beginnings of the Ontario Knife Company are shrouded in the mystery of a fading past. It seems certain that t...

Re: Weird electrical issues at my home!

One easy test you can do with a volt meter is to check the voltage at various outlets. Compare those that are showing proper voltage against those that are problematic. The circuits that are working properly should show the same voltage at all outlets. That can vary a bit with different energy provi...

Re: .357 Magnum Revolver recommendations

The Ruger SP101 .357 with a 4.2 inch barrel is a good revolver Ive shot 38s and .357 rounds through it and is very accurate. Haven't fired a 4.2" SP101 yet, but I've fired plenty of magnums from the 3" model. The SP101 is surprisingly robust. A good many of the rounds were .357 Mag Defense handload...

Re: Weird electrical issues at my home!

Had a similar experience in 1989 after a thunderstorm and close lightning strikes. Afterward I found that some circuits were not completely grounded, but had not been thrown.

If in doubt, call an electrician to check it out to make sure you have proper grounding of the breaker box. ;-)

Kalitopia! ;-) I like that one. Stealing it!!! :biggrinjester: Please feel free to do so! I can not, however, recommend posting my description of dems on the Fox News site. The censors in their employ will delete your post if you use my favorite description of demo-commie. No worries, in ...

Re: Zombie Killer

I didn't get into AR 15s until after the development of the Mk262 Mod 0 load that Chris Kyle developed for and tested with US Spec Ops. That load used the Sierra 77 gr. HPBT MatchKing w/cannelure on the bullet. The purpose of the load is reliable tumbling out to 300 yards, so there is a velocity man...

Re: WD40

I have some machining experience as well as some courses taken a few years back at my Tech College Alma-Matter. Lubricants for cutting tools are an interesting subject. Mineral based for best lubrication, synthetic for higher temperatures and longer wear. So, like the engine in your pickup, or mine ...

Re: .357 Magnum Revolver recommendations

L-Frame 586/686 and the GP100 are about the perfect size for .357 Mag carry/field revolver if you're going to be firing full power factory loads or handloads. Smith N-Frames have been mentioned, and while their frames are larger, it's the extra weight of the barrel lug on the L-Frames that makes the...

Re: "The First Conspiracy" was against the 1st Prez. Execution followed.

Another really good read is Rise To Rebellion by Jeff Shaara. Technically historical fiction, but the history is 100% accurate. The author takes poetic license to create the day-to-day lives of our forefathers. It begins March 5, 1770 and continues to the Declaration of Independence. From both the B...

Re: EDC knife

Spyderco makes good knives. I had the Endura I got in a pistol trade with my dealer back in 1998. My shooting partner has the current version. 3 1/2" is about minimum for my blades and the lockback is as strong as any. ;-)

Re: Is Taurus CS the worst in the Imdustry?

After I received my plastic 12/2/08, the first handgun I bought was a Taurus PT111 Millenium, a 9MM. When the class action lawsuit was brought, due to safety problems with multiple Taurus pistols, I stopped using it and got other handguns. I signed up as one of the gun owners with a problem pistol....

Re: Is Taurus CS the worst in the Imdustry?

Good stuff! As far as the move to GA, I would ask what even gets moved around in a warehouse these days, that isn't tracked by computer? I understand that only 20% of the production staff moved, but not much less than 100% of the computer tracking changed. ;-)

Is Taurus CS the worst in the Imdustry?

My older brother got into shooting kind of late in life. His first purchase was a lightly used older Rossi .38 Special from Interarms, pre-Taurus who have essentially killed off the brand. After he began considering getting his CHL, he bought an infamous PT-111 Millenium Pro in 9mm. He paid $350 + t...
