Yeah, for about the same money, you do get a few more & different options:Beiruty wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:25 pm Among other expensive 1911 pistols, I have
Para 1911 single stack , SS in 45 ACP

RIA 1911 single stack, Creakote in 9mm
Both are excellent shooters. If you can tune a trigger or polish control surfaces they will only get better.
I recommend the Rem new 1911 (fab by Para) too.

Re: 1911 Bug bites again. Which one?
Gotta say, I REALLY don't like Colt, and haven't for many years. The late 70s into the early 90s were horrible for their production guns. It's not that they couldn't produce a decent 1911, they just chose not to.
More recent offerings may be better, but IMHO, yuo'll pay more for the name than it's worth.
Rant off.
The CCU probably is better, especially with the DLC coating. It will wear better, and should be (if properly finished, post-machining) smoother internally than the blued or parked offerings.
Regarding the series 80 system, it can be a grievous headache, especially on a $1000+ purchase, but it can be negated. At worst, you can send it back to Colt, if you have to (and you may not)
