Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I'm hoping for a dem on dem bloodbath, much worse than we saw with the Rep's. Maybe they will damage each other beyond repair. Of course, I wonder who bought the dem fix this time around????

Democrats Spend $2.5 BILLION Trying to Buy Blue Wave
“The overall estimated cost of the 2018 election would represent a 35 percent increase over the 2014 cycle in nominal dollars, the largest increase in at least two decades,” the report said....

Interestingly, Democrats are hauling in far more cash from out of state than Republicans.

“In terms of itemized individual contributions, Senate Democrats received 60 percent of their funds — nearly $220 million — from out-of-state donors. Democrats in the House got 45 percent of their funds from out-of-state,” according to the report.
Beto O'Rourke fundraising:
54.41% from Large Individual Contributions (>$200)

Not sure I understood the detail... how can UT give $365K? One would think a state school would not be allowed to give away the state tax dollars to support a non school cause?

Beto superhero mural pops up in Austin.

http://spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/austin/ ... ast-austin

If or when he loses, clearly he needs to move to CA and run forPres in 2020.
from the link...
The mural is located between Cesar Chavez and East 2nd Street in an alley behind Waller Street.
So appropriately located!!!!!!!

We need a dog poop emoji! I'm going to start referring to my pooper scooper as my beto.

Whooooooaaa. Waitaminnit. Will they use a NICKNAME on an official ballot?
Sadly yes... it's allowed if he's been known by that nickname for 3 or more years prior.

Maybe we can petition the Sec of State that we haven't known him that way but for 2 years??

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I'm just glad Cruz isn't giving his opponent an unchecked hour of lie time. It will be maddening, I'm sure, but just I hope Cruz is well prepared and shows the truth of their respective positions.

Why O'Rourke's Rhetoric on Police Shootings Is Wrong—And Dangerous
https://townhall.com/columnists/johnrlo ... s-n2528561
“How can we continue to lose the lives of unarmed black men in the United States of America at the hands of white police officers? That is not justice.”- Robert O'Rouke

Robert O'Rourke - wrong for Texas and wrong for freedom loving Americans everywhere!
They should have just beaten o'rourke to a pulp, right there, just for being white...

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I hear ya! There are a couple people I see every week that like to spread the half truths and bull so it's important to me to be able to correct them or at least give the rest of the story to the group! :tiphat:

Beto will have an hour to him self on CNN, as Ted declined to come on CNN.
I hate for Ted to give him an hour of saying anything he wants, uncontested and unchecked.

I get that it's cnn, but he's giving bo a lot of free lee way in this race. I hope Ted knows something that we don't because I'm a bit nervous.
Anyone watching CNN is probably not undecided nor a Republican. If they are a Republican, why watch a "news" network known to lie and distort facts?
Not so sure...

I watch cnn when hot topics are on (like the Kavanaugh accusations) to keep abreast of the other team's arguments/accusations... I also know that LOTS of people who aren't politically active (or affiliated) watch cnn. My point though was that bo will say a number of things that won't be accurate and will get traction since no one is there to correct it. And I think he'll use some clips of it in commercials. Regardless, nothing good comes from an hour of unchecked commentary from him as I'm sure he'll lie about Ted Cruz and both of their positions on issues.

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

I was surprised to see that the polling on Fox news a few min ago had Cruz up but only by about about 4pts. That concerns me greatly. I will hang my head in shame, if Cruz is beaten in Nov.

It just occurred to me...

Will "Beto" even be on the ballot? I mean, that's just a nickname, right? Won't a ballot be required to have his legal name on it?

How many people who intend to vote for "Beto" will go into the voting booth and say: "Who's this O'Rourke guy? And where's Beto?!"
I'm still trying to figure out how its legal, but "Beto" is on the ballot: Our example ballot
On the sec of state form you fill out to run it has a blank for your name and another for your name as you want on the ballot (nicknames you to be commonly known by the nickname for 3 yrs prior)
