Re: Has anyone took the time to make a kit or Glock look alike?

I had a young man who had put a "G17" together and attempted to take LTC shooting test with it. Way to many malfs early to continue. I loaned him a Springfield XD9M - that went bang every time. ;-)

Re: Instructor range fee for Online students

"I don't mind doing the online folks, but they always have so many questions. Kind of feel bad for them." Yep, I've had several like that, ones that our web site "screening process" did not make go elsewhere. Recent one was a pretty (other than the nose ring) younger gal, fearful of an "ex". She pas...

Re: Instructor range fee for Online students

Ya, I've had more than a few callers think all they need to do is show up and have me watch them shoot. I tired of arguing with 'em a long time ago and have this conclusion for the option on our web site: "In summary, the cost for the RANGE PORTION of the "hybrid" (online elsewhere + shooting at DCS...

Re: Current fingerprinting logjam in DFW

Thanks Chris for very thorough (as usual) explanation. I texted him (also from Cali) the link to this forum.

Current fingerprinting logjam in DFW

I had a gentleman in ANOTHER private class last night. He was having a very difficult time finding ANYWHERE in the Metroplex that he could get an electronic fingerprinting appointment. His phone kept telling him "zero appointments available". It appeared that he may have to drive 80+ miles to Graham...

S&W 15-ounce Model 637 is often my "dog walking" gun. Until the neighborhood really goes south.

Shutdown of Laws Booklets (LTC-16) printing

In early March, I used the DPS form and ordered 40 of the new LTC-16s at $5 each. (Now almost 150 pages!) The check for $200+ cleared the bank in late March. Never receiving the shipment and figuring that "porch pirates" might have taken it, I called the number on the form to check. The gal informed...

"I may run the risk of getting a hefty ticket if a deputy is called by a neighbor."

You might want to check out the "ticket" risk. Some penalties I have seen mentioned could cost folks their LTC for 7 years ......

Re: Need help with “Essential Businesses”

"On a positive note Denton County included gun and ammunition retailers as essential in their order which went into effect last night." I just e-mailed County Judge Andy Eads. Informed him of pro bono class suspension for a small Baptist church Safety Team and record numbers of gun sales (by others)...

Denton County Sports Assn. private indoor range operating as normal: no walk-ins, but 24/7 access for members. For the foreseeable future (even after County lock down is lifted), small, private classes only.

Re: Know Your Target and What’s In-Between

I happen to know a dude ;-) who was sitting in the extreme back end of a long bow blind, shooting thru the slit of a front window with an AR with a 3-9X scope mounted about 2 1/2 inches above the bore. A big fat doe lived to see another day due to these things called "window sill" and "mechanical of...

Re: Sig P365 XL???

No personal experience with the XL, but a considerable amount with the original versions. For me anyway, the closest to "the perfect every day carry gun" that I have found. The "short grip" was easily fixed here by the use of 12-round magazines. Academy also stocks a $40 15-rounder - which I find to...

Re: Difference of opinion before the "rack"

""Tap/Rack/Bang" always carried a conditional measure of familiarity and usage that has been lost in carrying the concept forward to people whose mouths drop open at the idea of shooting 250 rounds a year." Agreed. The issue I have with eliminating the "tap" is that I'm an pretty sure that there are...
