Re: Overheard at the Gun Shop
Just curious... What about a 1911 do you not trust, or feel uncomfortable with? I agree with you, but it did take me a while to get comfortable with the idea of carrying cocked and locked. But when you stop and think about it, the pistol cannot be fired if the trigger isn't being pulled AND the gri...

Then my PIN# must have come with the packet that DPS sent me before I took the class.ammo two wrote:Annoyed...I did not request a packet as you did, rather I just obtained a packet from my CHL instructor. I am almost at the 30 day mark, so I expect to receive the PIN before too much longer.

Re: see how many sex offenders around you - get wife a CHL
HOLY SMOKES! It turns out that the guy across the street and 2 doors down from me is a registered sex offender for a 2002 offense of "Poss. Promotion of Child Pornography!" It appears that he got paroled from a 20 year sentence. Geeze, I've met the guy several times, and he seems so normal...

Re: Dallas Morning News article on Castle Doctrine
To me, personally, the issue is not just whether or not the de-facto status quo ante the Castle Doctrine bill was that juries were inclined not to convict, and the Dallas Morning News entirely misses the point. The point is that, even if juries were not likely to convict, the law still assumed the p...

No, you're not. I'm at least as stupid as you are, and like you, I own a number of rifles and pistols, but shotguns just don't call my name.

Re: HK USP compact
I own one in .40 S&W which I bought for carry purposes. I also bought for carry purposes, just a few weeks before the H&K, a Sig 1911 GSR Revolution Carry Stainless in .45 ACP. This 1911 is a Commander size, with a 4.25" barrel. Here's my impressions: Comfort: The Sig 1911 seems to carr...

Re: I hate Cheaper than Dirt!
I have spent way too much money at Sportsman's Warehouse this month. With their clearance I keep going in there and grabbing stuff. I scored there in the first week of their sale.... Bushmaster Varminter: MSRP $1,325.00; SW Price $1,069.95; I paid $962.00 Burris XTR Tactical 3-12x50 scope: MSRP $1,...

Ammo two, I've had my PIN# ever since I took the class. I don't remember if it came with the stuff that was mailed to me by the state before the class, or if the class directors gave it to me.ammo two wrote:Annoyed Man, looks like you are about 14 days ahead of me in the timeline. I'm still waiting on my PIN.

http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdps/chl/common/jsp/selectTask.jsp Thanks for the link. OK, I logged in, and this is what it said: "Packet Mailed to Applicant." Well, I mailed them back the packet by certified mail on 12/10/07, and I know they received it, so does this mean tha...

I phoned them, and the guy called me back today. He said that they had broken ground on the range, but it wasn't finished yet, and he didn't know when that would be. But I guess they're working on it as they can.

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke
Welcome to the forum, Annoyed. But you gotta know, you are preaching to the choir when it comes to range availability. Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I realize by now that I'm preaching to the choir, but I still don't get how a gun grabbing state like California can have long distance target ranges ...
