Re: Best Gun for Home Defense

I’d be OK with pistol, AR, or shotgun, but my biggest fear is actually doing more damage to my hearing by discharging a gun inside my house, which is why my primary HD weapon has become a suppressed G17 loaded with 147 grain subsonics. All my ARs can also be suppressed, but they’re still a lot loude...

Re: Interesting gun bills filed for 2019 session

OK TAM. I'll jump into the devil's advocate role. 1. What part of the Constitution gives the Federal government the power to regulate anything built and used in Texas?. I get it that power has been usurped in situations like the farmer growing crops for his own use being declared interstate commerc...

Re: Interesting bill regarding guns made in Texas

Another one. http://twitter.com/chucklindell/status/1062034572311977984 Another gun bill by @RepMattKrause, HB 238, would bar state agencies, local governments from helping the feds enforce gun regulations in Texas. Exempted: border security operations. #txlege I have mixed feelings on this one. On...

Re: Button Rifle Barrels vs. Hammer Forged

I have not heard that hammer forged barrels provides greater accuracy over button cut barrels. Actually have heard the opposite. Match grade barrels are not typically hammer forged. Hammer forged barrels are said to last longer, but I wouldn't stress over it. The barrel on your Colt is a consumable...

Re: Truck broken in to, pistol stolen...I’m mad at myself

That's why they make Taurus. Excellent observation. However, I think I’m going to get a basic RIA . My local Academy will have the Taurus G2c for $180 on black Friday. Good truck gun. Perhaps statewide. You can get a Hi-Point model 34510 for even less .... and it’s chambered in the mighty .45 ACP, ...

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

Republicans in Texas better wake up and figure out how to get Hispanic votes and suburban votes. In my area which historically has been strongly Republican, I now have a Democrat state senator and a Democrat state rep who doesn't even live in the district. And my Congressman, Marchant, just barely ...

Re: Calling all 1st gen m&p fs/c owners

I have a 1st gen full sized M&P45, with the thumb safety etc. One of the reasons I bought it at the time was that I’m a southpaw and the gun came with ambidextrous controls - including the slide stop/release. I noticed right off the bat that the slide stop on the right side of the frame did not prot...

Re: Old vs New/Your Five

I too have lots of “new” stuff, and some old school stuff. My old school stuff would include: — a couple of 1911s, one of which is a 1943 vintage — a 5” S&W Model 29 — lever actions in .22, .30/30, and 45/70 — a couple of .308 Winchester bolt actions — a 1943 vintage Inland M1 Carbine — a 1936 Tula ...

Re: RGB fell down and broke ribs. Again.

Rib fractures in the elderly are dangerous. For folks over 65, each consecutive fractured rib gives you a 10% chance of dying. That 10% assumes an average elderly patient, and RBG is on the far end of the healthy side of that spectrum, but the risk is far greater than people commonly realize. It's ...
