And I've got to finish my preparing my tax filing.....and about a million other things. Dang your eyes!

Awesome...
My dad knew Steinbeck personally.

I am currently reading "The Forgotten 500: The Untold Story of the Men Who Risked All for the Greatest Rescue Mission of World War II".

Two of the men killed at Benghazi were friends of retired SEAL Brandon Webb. He has coauthored a book about it under the Sofrep banner called "Benghazi: The Definitive Report". I had started the book a while back, but I got sidetracked onto other things. I'll have to go back and finish it.

I haven't seen the movie yet and got the same recommendation from another friend. Looking forward to it.
What's too bad for you is that it is no longer in theaters. I saw in 3D at Tinseltown in Grapevine, on their big screen. It will still be a very good movie either way, but the panoramic views of the martian surface in 3D were simply stunning........so real that the suspension of disbelief required no will.

I had the good fortune to read "The Martian" before the movie came out, and boy am I glad I did. I loved the movie. I am going to buy the DVD of it. But as good as the movie was, the book is MUCH better. I grew up around the JPL community because of my parents' professorships at Caltech - which owned JPL. My father in law was a NASA/JPL engineer. Even though the story takes place in the not too distant future, and some of it is a little futuristic, it is totally believable for someone who grew up around that stuff. I recommend watching these two Andy Weir videos:

Re: What are you currently reading?

I usually have more than one iron in the fire.

I just finished reading two books...... "If You Survive: From Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge to the End of World War II, One American Officer's Riveting True Story" by George Wilson; and "The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor" by Jake Tapper.

I am currently working on (re-reading) both "Inside Delta Force" by Eric Haney, and the first book in Shelby Foote's excellent Civil War trilogy.

The above are all on Kindle. I also just received the Kindle version of "Devotion" by Adam Makos yesterday, and also the print version of "The Life of the Hunt" by John Barsness.........both of which I'll tackle next.

And of course, I try to read Scripture as often as I can, but I confess that I don't always do it every day. Frequently, though.

Re: What are you currently reading?

In the last two months, I've read the following books:

Civilian Warriors, by Erik Prince
Fearless, by Eric Blehm (REread it to regain a little perspective)
Facing Violence, by Rory Miller
The Art of the Rifle, by Jeff Cooper
American Sniper, by Chris Kyle (REread it .... see above)
The Outpost, by Jake Tapper
Gates of Fire, by Steven Pressfield
Service: A Navy Seal at War, by Marcus Luttrell
SEAL of Honor, by Gary Williams
Lone Survivor, by Marcus Luttrell

That's just since New Year's Day. And then just tonight, I downloaded these two and started the first one:

The Only Thing Worth Dying For, by Eric Blehm
Lions of Kandahar, by Major Rusty Bradley

Ender's Game is a great book, and Orson Scott Card is a good writer. I read it some years ago. My son turned me on to it when he was in middle school.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I start each day with scripture and a devotional book called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. I am also concurrently reading "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" by Thomas Sowell and "Suicide of a Superpower" by Pat Buchanan. I recently finished reading "World War Z" by Max Brooks.
