I have brand new neighbors from Switzerland for whom I was doing research on this topic quite recently. The husband would like to have a firearm in the home, but said that when he looked into it, he was told he could not legally acquire or own a gun in the U.S. He was obviously told that by someone either ignorant or with an agenda, because it simply isn't true.
He and his wife work for a european airline, and they will be here for 5-6 years. The airline moves them around every few years, but they are here for long enough that they actually bought the $372K home next door to mine, so they are at least semi-permanent resident aliens. They were previously in Beijing for 5-6 years, and before that they were in Israel for 5-6 years.
