So where exactly are we on this now?
It needed 21 votes to suspend the Senate Rules and bring it up for debate and voting. Then it only takes a simple majority to pass.

Re: SB 1164 Campus Carry in floor debate NOW

SB1164 passed on a 19 to 12 vote with one amendment exempting "teaching" hospitals.

I can't understand Senators in districts with major universities bowing to liberal academia that will never vote for them anyway (for the Republicans anyhow). And students are pretty much split on the issue of campus carry and most don't vote, so that can't be a reason. :???:
Big donors to the schools tend to also donate to Republican candidates.

I need to see how Amendment 6 is worded to be able to answer your question.

What was the meat and potatoes to 1164? Will private universities still have the ability to decide whether I can carry on campus or not?

Sorry for the question... I am just a little cloudy on these bills since there were a few, and they have all been mixed around. What about the one regarding keeping your gun in your car at work?

Thanks,
Scott
Here's the Reader's Digest version. It will no longer be unlawful for CHLs to carry into school buildings; Universities will not be able to expel students who are CHLs for carrying, nor can they fire employees. They can regulate, but not prohibit, the storage of firearms in school housing. Private schools can still opt out.
