I realize that it will depend a lot on what clinics you're attending (and how many times you try the Texas Star), but how much ammo should we bring??? I'm trying to plan ahead in case I can't find any at the last minute.

Many thanks to Charles, PSC, and all of those helping with the event! :tiphat:
KFP,

Did you ever get an answer as to how much ammo you may need?
That's very hard to answer because it depends a lot on how quick one is on the trigger. The clinics are 1hr. 45min. long, while the mini-clinics are 45 minutes. Some clinics will involve more shooting than others simply because of the subject matter. For example, shooting on the move or engaging multiple targets will use more ammo than proper use of purses & fanny packs or drawing and engaging.

As Jeremy said, the Texas Stars burns ammo like an RV burns gas and you can spend some ammo on the plate rack.

So it's virtually impossible to give a good estimate. That said, purely as a rough guess, if I were attending as a student, I'd bring 100 rds for every mini-clinic and 200 for clinics, plus what I wanted to burn on the Texas Stars, plate rack, open shooting, etc. That's just what I'd bring and that's because I like pulling a trigger. By no means is it necessary to bring that much ammo, especially if you don't reload. Just remember, if you bring too much, you take it home with you. Bring too little and you'll be air-gunning it.

To answer this question. I have set up a new "event" under the "TexasCHLforum Day - Seminars" Category titled "General Attendance." If you are attending and do not want to register for any seminars, clinics, or mini-clinics, please register for the "General Attendance" "seminar" and send your check for the $15 event fee. This will allow us to get an accurate count for ordering lunch.

People who come and don't register for anything will not get a name badge and the name badges will be your lunch ticket. Also, pursuant to PSC rules, you must either be a member (wearing your member badge), or a non-member who is registered to attend this event (wearing your name badge) to be on Club property, so please register.

Thanks,
Chas.
Does it matter if we signed up for clinics and signed up for General Attendance? Also, will there be an email confirmation showing that the check that is sent for the entrance fee arrived on time to firm up the registrations?
If you signed up for any seminars, clinics or mini-clinics, then there is no need to sign up for the General Attendance "seminar." General Attendance was added solely to let me get a good headcount for ordering lunch. Let me know if you signed up for General Attendance and I'll delete that registration. It may not matter if the Access reports I'm working on work as I intend, but they may not.

I will be sending email confirmation on checks in the next week or so. I was hoping to use Access for that too, but I have too little time to work on it.

sneedb82 wrote:I didn't register, because I gotta make sure that I'm not on the road doing audits that week... which usually means the weekend is filled :( And with it being in the Houston Area, that's quite a travel for me.

Need to verify but won't know for some time. Guess if the wife and kiddo want to head to Houston I'll see about 3 days off if possible and just WATCH :)

Look forward to it.

I hope you can make it Brandon. There will be plenty to do besides watching other folks. Open shooting will be available at various times during the day and the Texas Stars and other steel targets will be available also. We may be offering short "mentor" sessions for people needing help on some discrete aspect of shooting, but that hasn't been formally put on the schedule.

The "CHL Fashion Show" is always fun and we do that at lunch.

If you are going to come and want to have lunch, be sure to register for the "General Attendance" "seminar so we'll have a good headcount for ordering lunch. You won't see it on the event description page, but it's on the registration page under TexasCHLforum Day - Seminars. If you do register, be sure to remember the deadline for getting your $15 mailed in.

If you are talking about the TexasCHLforum Day at PSC, then you must pre-register and pay the $15 event fee. If you are talking about using PSC in general, then you have to be a member, unless you are attending an event open to non-members, as Larry just explained.

Chas.
I was talking about stopping there this week to pay my $15 event fee instead of mailing it.
Oh, I see. Sorry, but no one at the range is dealing with this event, or any others for that matter. The event organizers are always responsible for the record keeping. You have to mail it.

big 54r wrote:ooh well...I knew when my computer went and got "sick" was when the forum day registration would begin and so it came to pass!

I just got my computer back yesterday and I look today and the "event" is virtually booked up...ooh well.

I got 2 slots (me and the wife!) in 2 mini clinics, speed reload and malf drills...

malf drills is at 0800 and reloads is at 1430...I booked the clinics in haste to get in some of the better ones and saw that I was to late!

Is there any way I can cancel the 2 slots for the 0800 malf clinic and the 2 slots for the 1430 reload clinic and get into 2 slots for the 1430 malfunction clinic and 2 slots for the 1630 speed reload clinic instead since the 1st 2 registrations slots are so far apart?

If not i'll just have to stay around and find something in the area to do to fill time instead of going home and coming back later.

Sorry for the hastily registered bookings but I have been waiting for this event to come back around since "IKE" cancelled it last year...and don't you know "MURPHY" got me again when my computer went and got "SICK"! I guess she got well a little to late!

I don't really want to book the later mini clinics until I get the other 2 slots for the 2 clinics canceled or at least some INFO or HELP from someone running the show.

Both of the bookings are under my forum name of big 54r.

thanx
Just send me an email telling me what events you want to cancel and I'll take care of it. However, make sure the other events you want are still open! Once I delete you, I can't change it although you could re-register if someone doesn't get the slots.

Re: Registration for 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC begins Sunday

Registration is way ahead of last time and the software is working well with only a couple of minor glitches. Is anyone getting double email confirmations?

If you are waiting to register, don't wait too long!

For which ones did you not receive a confirmation?

Chas.
I did not receive confirmation e-mails for B1 or T4. I don't believe I double booked any sessions.
Oops! I received a report this morning from my internet server's spam blocker and the two missing session confirmations were there. I'm all good to go now. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for letting me know. I suspect spam filters are going to be a problem for the confirmation emails. I had to put my own domain name (for email address) on the "white list" to get notifications. Since they are coming to Charles@TexasShooting.com but from "PSC Shooting Club," they were blocked by the spam filter. The interesting thing is that my experience was like yours; some got through while others were blocked. :headscratch

Re: Registration for 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC begins Sunday

Booking/email problem. When you register, you get a confirmation email and so do I. However, I received about 30 duplicate (sometimes triplicate) emails indicating people had double or triple booked. I checked every one and only the original two people double booked anything. It appears the problem is with the email confirmation, not with the actual booking into the database. (Thank goodness!) So if you get multiple emails for the same event, then don't worry about it. I'll be checking each event list to see if we have any multiple bookings.

Please note, this has nothing to do with intentionally booking two different events for the same time. If this happens, we'll delete both registrations, so please don't double book.

Texd40 wrote:Computer problems signing up, or maybe it's just operator error :???: Me thinks it may be a software glitch?? I signed up for seven events. I am almost positive that I submitted only one registration for each event, but three of the registration confirmations I received via email had me double booked. Another confirmation had me signed up three times. If the double/triple booking really occurred, how do I go about straightening it out? I definitely do not want to bump someone from attending! Thanks for any help.
I cleared multiple booking from two people, and I'm pretty sure yours is one. I'd sure like to know if this is a software problem! :banghead: I'll keep checking daily to delete any multiple bookings. If you are going to register for someone other than yourself, be sure to book the second reservation under their name! I'll be deleting any multiple bookings.

Sorry for the glitch, but I sure hope it's operator error! (No offense guys, but if it's a software problem, it's a bigger issue.)

Re: Registration for 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC begins Sunday

Registration for the 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC is now open. Go to PSC Shooting Club website and look for the TexasCHLforum Day menu on the right. It has event descriptions, schedule and a link to the registration page.

Remember, change the Category to one of the three TexasCHLforum Day categories to make it much easier to find things. Again, be sure to use the Schedule to plan your day so you don't book a conflict.

Re: Registration for 2009 TexasCHLforum Day at PSC begins Sunday

I have posted the registration rules and procedures on the PSC Shooting Club website so I expect to see a lot of PSC members registering for this year's event. (I just made a few revisions to the post I made here.) With well over 2,200 members, all of the seminars, clinics and mini-clinics could fill up much faster than in prior years, especially since people can register online. So I want to encourage you to register early! I don't want any of our "family" left out.

Remember, Registration begins at 2:00pm on Sunday, Aug. 16th.

Chas.
