That worries me. The version that came out of committee on the 16th was reasonable. I hope they didn't backslide (although it would be a hoot if they added renewal CHLs and not legislators. )
or campus carry !
I was thinking, after reading about SB 1581 today, that this might be a vehicle for some form of campus carry.

I can't wait to hear the reason once the session is over. If you're willing (or able) to explain it to us.
There's been speculation here that it was so it could be attached to something more likely to pass both houses. I bet that's not far from the truth, at least part of it.
Maybe they were keeping HB 750 in their pocket to try only if they were not able to pass it as an amendment to something else.

Re: SB 905 passed in Senate

“Today, I voted against the Committee Substitute to Senate Bill 905. As a strong proponent of Second Amendment rights, I could not in good conscience grant myself a privilege that I had failed to first grant law-abiding citizens. Concealed handgun license holders are allowed to carry almost everywhere they go. In my judgment, if we are going to expand when and where Texans can legally carry a concealed firearm, we should start with our citizens — not our lawmakers.”
I like that attitude. :txflag:

Re: SB 905 passed in Senate

I don't see this as a bad thing.
Yeah, I hate it when they take care of themeselves and not the peons.
But as Charles said, it "might be useful."
Maybe we can attach a nice amendment to it.
If not, let this thing go and don't yell too loud about your legislators giving themselves extra rights, for now.
When we're getting ready for the 2013 session, hit 'em with it. "Hey, y'all can carry in bars and such and no legislator as gone berserk and shot up the place. What makes you think I will? Maybe we little people would like the right to self defense too, huh?"
It is a small win in the fight to push back those infringements. We get one group of people who can do it, then we can gripe about discrimination or just say that they were the test case and it worked so now it's time to let the rest of us in on it.
