Supermarket chains will not go into neighborhoods that have a large number of dollar stores because a lot of what the $ stores do sell are basics that brings people into the supermarket but the $ stores are a little cheaper. Milk, cereal, eggs, etc. Earnings for supermarkets in such neighborhoods are lower, sometimes much lower, than ones in similar neighborhoods lacking $ stores.oohrah wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:21 am "Food deserts" are a real problem. However, I do not think it is a problem the government should be trying to fix by mandating rules. Welfare programs never turn out very well.
