Just because people criticize a part of our government (local, state, or federal) why does it have to mean that they're criticizing the state itself?
Based on your response, you're taking a perceived insult to the state pretty personally. I don't think that's what was intended.
And I don't thing suggesting that people leave is the best solution for the state. If you like things exactly the way they are, then anyone wanting to change anything should leave.. Some us might disagree or might want to have a respectful discussion.

I wonder why you feel so threatened by Dori calling a spade a spade.
Threatened? No... there is nothing threatening about a troll. Since you feel Dori is correct in the constant insults at texas, I will tell you like I told Dori. if you don't like Texas... why hang out trying to make "friends"?

Nor can I think of any circumstance where it would be a laughing matter.

Re: Why exactly does Texas not have open carry?
This is not applicable here. I am not the one needing the support of the masses. I have no cause I am trumpeting. You seem to have it backwards. If you are addressing my referring to OC radicals who carry mass murderer style rifles through malls as morons, you are a bit late to the table on that one. That issue was addressed and put away many posts back.cb1000rider wrote:03L,
I'm pointing out a little "do as I say, not as I do" - that's all.
With that said, is your only reason for posting just now to stir the pot? Maybe grand stand for your perceived fan base? It sure looks like it. I see no other reason for you to address me with your seriously misplaced sense of moral superiority. I suppose we are done now.

Re: Why exactly does Texas not have open carry?
The individual is the path to the whole group. If OC is ever to have a chance at passing, open carry proponents MUST win over as much support as possible. They will not win support by alienating gun owners, be it individually or as a group. I am not sure how you think insulting individuals will lead to the passage of OC.cb1000rider wrote:But it works just fine on individuals.03Lightningrocks wrote:You will never win over the masses by insulting them.
Austin is already Democratic. It's already been picked.
Worry about the rest of the state, especially since we're facing shifting demographics. I don't think exclusionary political policy is a viable long term strategy in Texas.

Re: Why exactly does Texas not have open carry?
Yes I did. My post was actually inspired by the post above mine. My first draft made it more clear but I edited it in an attempt to avoid sounding like I was making it personal. The first couple sentences of my post were actually a lead up to the main point I was trying to make, which I reinserted into the snip you made and highlighted in red.jbarn wrote:Did you read the post directly above yours?03Lightningrocks wrote:After reading more of these threads debating open carry than I can count, I have noticed a couple common denominators. Not one person has ever posted,"I'm against open carry". Many have said they would not do it for one reason or the other but it is always posted that they would not be against it as long as it did not pose a risk to our CC rights.
I have also noticed the one and only concern anyone has ever expressed about changing the law to allow open carry is a concern for this creating less places we can conceal carry.
Do the open carry radicals express any desire to address these concerns? NEVER! Dismissing concerns expressed by others as irrelevant is not the same as addressing them.
There will never be open carry until this changes. Want open carry to be legalized? Start proposing solutions that will address the one and only objection ever expressed by the ONLY people in this state who you might be able to persuade to join your cause.
Sorry it created confusion. I had edited out the first few words in the second line of my post and left that line reading completely different than I meant it to. It originally read something like, "you may be the first person I have ever read to actually confess to being against OC" and I was trying to keep the responses from being about that rather than the part I highlighted in red just above.

Re: Why exactly does Texas not have open carry?
This is a fact. The radicals running web sites like ocdo and similar are not very intelligent. They lash out foolishly because of this. It is like a child throwing themselves on the floor of the grocery store, screaming and kicking when mommy said they can't have a candy bar.TexasCajun wrote:The blame for open carry failure needs to be shared.
