I saw it on the calendar before midnight, so it MIGHT be heard tomorrow. We shall see. I've also seen that Senator Nichols (who was one of the few who had not expressed a public opinion), has come out in support of HB 1927.

Senators who have not yet publicized their opinion are feeling pressure. I encourage everyone who resides in the districts of the undecided, call them and POLITELY let your senator know how you (as their constituent) would like them to vote.
Please everyone! Pretty Please!

Even if you have reservations about constitutional carry, this sends a big message to politicians in Washington that one more state is saying NO to additional gun control laws.

Papa_Tiger wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:35 am Why is law enforcement so opposed to the legislature codifying this to prevent harassment and abuse by LEOs of honest, law abiding citizens?
Law enforcement says that it will make their jobs harder by taking way a tool, but this is a tool that they already shouldn't have since after this passes, no law would be broken by the mere possession of a handgun in public.
Do all LEOs assume that every person they encounter is a felon? Seems like a negative way to start any encounter with the public.
I only notice police chiefs from metropolitan areas being vocal against constitutional carry. That's a small percentage of Texas' law enforcement community. Police chief is a hired/appointed position, not elected, and that can make them more likely to parrot the policies of city leadership instead of the will of the citizens.
LEOs I know assume that every person is armed all of the time. It isn't a negative perspective for them in most cases, but rather a precautionary one.
I would counter by saying that many metropolitan areas which have chiefs who parrot city leadership are home to many left leaning individuals who elect that same city leadership. Even making chief an elected position would likely result in a similar political stance. Perhaps even MORE "political" as they would be more likely to run their department as a political division, as opposed to law enforcement.

Re: TX: Lt Gov Patrick says not enough Senate votes to pass Con Carry

I have to wonder how many more people will actually carry on a regular basis if Constitutional carry passes. I bet that people who are wanting to carry on a regular basis already have an LTC. I also bet there are a lot of folks already carrying concealed with no LTC under the 12/6 rules. I can still remember all the hoopla about blood in the streets when Texas first approved the CHL. None of it came to pass. This will be very similar. I will also say that having an LTC does not mean much at all about ability to shoot. A one day class does not an expert make.

That includes any test, instructions, and teaching. I view those as infringements (in my little mind).

There are some folks, even those with a LTC, who don't truly believe in our 2nd amendment rights. I have read it several times and find nothing in the constitution about getting special training to exercise our rights. Any of them.

Re: TX: Lt Gov Patrick says not enough Senate votes to pass Con Carry

Just saw this link of Senators not voicing support at this time. If any of you live in their districts, let them know where you stand.

Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, who leads the Texas Senate, famously stated there are not enough votes for Constitutional Carry HB 1927 in the Texas Senate.

Of course, the buck stops with him and he alone should be held responsible if Constitutional Carry isn't taken up for a vote on the Texas Senate floor.

But if you are left wondering which Republican State Senators have NOT taken a public position on Constitutional Carry HB 1927, here they are:

SD 3 - Robert Nichols (512) 463-0103
SD 5 - Charles Schwertner (512) 463-0105
SD 7 - Paul Bettencourt (512) 463-0107
SD 11 - Larry Taylor (512) 463-0111
SD 12 - Jane Nelson (512) 463-0112
SD 17 - Joan Huffman (512) 463-0117
SD 25 - Donna Campbell (512) 463-0125
SD 31 - Kel Seliger "unsure" (512) 463-0131
Not sure who represents you? Look up your State Senator here https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home

I was wondering if we should send her an email thanking her for supporting our 2nd amendment rights. Maybe some incentive for her to maintain her stance on this issue.

So....it is my opinion that a couple of thousand people could break the switchboard at the Capitol, talking to or leaving messages for the Senators to "convince" them to pass Constitutional Carry. I remember a few years back when Charles had us call the officials in New Mexico who were threatening to withdraw reciprocity for then CHL. He said that he wanted them to hear ringing phones in their sleep. We did and the NM leadership capitulated. But it seems hard to get a few hundred calls made in support of the Texas bills that we all want. Perhaps we do need fighters but they seem in short supply.

Full disclosure. I belong to a group that has been sending out emails with the bill numbers and representatives' phone numbers. I've been making those calls. I'm not sure it isn't like dipping the Pacific Ocean with a teaspoon but I'm not giving up.
Same here. I have made 4 phone calls.

What’s so wrong if you don’t have enough support to pass it? Bring it up for a vote! Make people take a yes or no stand. Quit trying to avoid making a decision. Yea or Nay!
That is one heck of a good idea. Is there a list of phone numbers we could post on this thread so it makes it easy for folks reading this thread to make those calls?

PD Chief San Antonio

Not just appointed positions but appointed positions in leftist scum strong holds. DemoCraps have taken control of the major cities across our Republic.
