I wasn't trying to solve the violence problem, just trying to satiate the calls for UBC's in a way that is no worse than what exists today. When an FFL runs a NICS check, is a record kept by the FBI? If we pass a law declaring that record must be deleted, I'd say we gained something. 4473 remains unchanged.
You have been around long enough to know there ain't no satiate to be had. No matter what we give them now, after the next few shootings they will come after more. Anything the anti's get will ONLY serve to embolden them.

How can you have a printed receipt and delete the transaction records?
The buyer gets a receipt, the seller gets a receipt, the government gets to delete the record after printing the receipt. Undifficult.
And you trust the government to delete them?
Not me. Once it is in "the system" it is not going anywhere. Not one thing with this "offer" would do anything to stop a mass shooter. As a matter of fact, nothing any of the gun grabbers propose will do anything to stop a mass shooter. The thing is, none of them are trying to stop mass shooters. They are simply trying to look like they have done something so they can claim it during an election.

I had a meeting yesterday with a man who likes to target shoot and owns a couple of handguns. After we took care of what we met for we started talking about all the news on guns lately. He doesn’t have a LTC, but he was under the impression that if bought a firearm at any gun show there was no background check. After explaining the law for less than one minute he said, “then there is no “gun show loop hole.” BINGO.
This is something I have run into also.Tagging one to one private sales as a "gun show loophole" has many people thinking that gun shows are a free for all in gun buying. I believe there are many people who do not realize there is already a back ground check for firearm purchases.

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

I believe the real issue is that Republican or Democrat, many these politicians are ultimately elitist who are in reality not fans of the people. They are fans of themselves. They all get armed security so self defense is not really their concern. Their main concern is to keep their power and wealth. Unfortunately this means that many of them will ride the momentum if it helps them to secure their position of power in the end. All they really ever needed was an excuse and possible permission to weaken the average persons ability to take away what the elitist power structure values most, the ability to make the rules. Unfortunately fear, on the heals of mass shootings, and lack of foresight by people to understand what losing the ability to resist authoritarian rule means in the end, has helped pave the way for many of them to do what is in their own best interest.

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

In the past ten years I have sold several firearms through gun broker which requires an FFL to complete so those are safe. I have also sold around four as private sales. All of which were members on this forum and I feel sure a LTC holder is not going to do evil with their purchase. But if for some reason any of them went nuts and shot an innocent person, it is definitely NOT something I should be held liable for. Heck, what about the Lightning I sold that ran 10 second quarter mile passes? I am not liable if the guy who purchased it runs over someone speeding. Or dies racing it at the track. These politicians are trying to have their cake and eat it too. We should not allow any give thinking it will cause the anti gun crowd to stop. Who really believes they will be happy with anything short of confiscation? The NRA and we the people need to say NO to any additional laws restricting the freedom of law abiding Americans. Nothing he proposes would have stopped any of these shootings.

You bet! That will stop the antis dead in their tracks. They will leave us the heck alone and all will be rainbows, unicorns, and pixie dust.
I thought licensed dealers already had to do checks at gun shows. Or is that the point?

howdy wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 9:38 pm Many gun ranges "rent out" guns to prospective buyers and people who do not own a gun but enjoy shooting. I guess these people will now require a background check ($) prior to renting.
I am praying the NRA puts enough pressure on these low life politicians to make them stay away from universal background checks. That is one very small step away from the government making a list and sending out goon squads to collect firearms they deem unsuitable for civilian consumption.

Do you actually think they will fight and die for a cause?. Stop putting your hopes in someone who sees you as inferior. You are on your on.
