Re: S&W M&P 2.0 45ACP for sale

I was really thinking about picking up the full size model, but when I took a close look at the specs it appears the only dimensional difference between full size and the 1.0 compact (which I have) is .6 inch of barrel length. (The 2.0 compact hasn't been released yet in .45). This line is unusual in that the full size and compact models have the same grip size and cartridge capacity based on a compact grip configuration, while almost all other lines have differences there because grip size is the major factor in concealability.

In one sense, that's quite clever - the full size has the concealability of a compact and can have the advantages of a larger grip and greater cartridge capacity by simply using a longer magazine with a grip adapter on it. This approach also appears in some 1911 models and a few other lines. In another sense, it makes for such a small difference between the two dimension envelopes that if one has either one, he probably doesn't need the other.

With that said, the 2.0 version is a major upgrade from the 1.0 in the grip and trigger. I had to install an Apex trigger system and a Talon grip to get my 1.0 to where I want it, but it's highly satisfactory now. I'm waiting for the Smith to release the 2.0 compact .45, which I suspect will come out sometime later this year with the 3.6 inch barrel configuration they adopted for the 2.0 9mm compact. That may be enough to get me to make the move to the 2.0 because I like to carry OWB a good portion of the time, and a half inch in holster length is enough to make a difference in selection of cover garments.

If not, and they fit your pistol, you may have the compact model.
S&W site shows both full and compact sizes have 10+1 capacity

14 round mags have extended grip

Thanks - didn't know that!
