Re: 74+ year old in-laws wanting to get their LTC and new guns

I’d take them somewhere that they can try them, the range in Alvin only charges $10 and you can swap guns as much as you want. I’ve got a G43 they could try out.

Re: Now I want a Barrett

I was fortunate enough to get to shoot the M82 Barrett and M21 in the service. The M82 was fun to shoot, especially when I wasn’t paying for ammo, but I prefer the M21 due to size and weight. I’d still like to buy a Barrett though, maybe I will some day.

Re: Trouble Purchasing Rifle at Walmart

They can use a combination of govt documents to verify your info. NICS is about to roll out some changes where the background check info has to match the ID but that’s not in effect yet. Most issues are due to a lack of knowledge, lack of knowledge is usually attributed to laziness or difficulty in ...

Re: Student with filthy Glock

He would have been better off not using anything but the Bore snake, WD40 and grease probably caused most of his problems by attracting dirt, carbon and grime. Glocks will go a long time without cleaning with minimal lube (most people over lube them) although I don’t see the need to see just how lon...

Bullet proof clothing maker shoots himself

I can understand his reasoning but I don’t think this was a good idea. Too many ways for something to go wrong. Odd choice of handguns too, can’t say I’ve run across anyone who carried a Tristar.

Re: LCR 9mm v. 38 Special snub

I could never see myself carrying my spare ammo on moon clips, at least with the 38 you can use speed strips. I carry spare ammo with me about 90% of the time and I know I couldn’t get used to the thickness of the spare ammo on moon clips. There’s probably not a large difference in the thickness of ...

I’ve used the Memorial Herman in Friendswood a couple times and liked it much better than the Clear Lake hospital ER.

Re: .22 cal LR not reliable for SD, is a .380?

This has been and will continue to be addressed ad nauseum, it’s just the nature of the topic. Some info on documented SD round use is great, some is too biased to rely upon. Think about it logically, you need to stop a deadly threat that is trying to take your life or someone around you. The piece ...

If you want an insight into how bad the cartel is in Mexico, check out Ed Calderon. He’s been on different podcasts telling of his time when he worked for the Mexican government and his interactions with the cartels.

Re: Postal Service is a joke...

Shipping reliability varies by location, I like UPS. USPS has proven to be incompetent and I hate the FedEx terminal on Fuqua (if I ship firearms i have to drop them off there). Some of the rudest people for me have been FedEx. USPS delivered a handgun which was properly addressed to someone on the ...

Re: I Want to Build A Rifle.

I think you’re best bet is to buy the Larue Tactical kit (mine was a little over $1000 delivered). You get everything you need and it’s a great quality rifle. I haven’t monitored wholesale AR component prices but I think getting a quality build for the Larue price will be tough. Of course Black Frid...

Re: Non resident alien firearm purchase

Thanks for the reply, would I be better getting my ltc first do you think then ? And valid hunting licence I have this years in date, I haven’t done the hunters ed. Does that matter ? It will make buying firearms quicker from most places if you have your LTC. With an LTC no NICS check is necessary ...
