Oldgringo wrote: Sun Sep 22, 2019 9:36 pm This entire thread is a "tempest in a teapot", to quote The Bard. If one doesn't like any stores' policies, products, prices, parking or whatever, shop elsewhere.

In the instance of Walmart's, et al, recently publicized positions on OC, don't go there if you object. This is still a free country. Why provoke them into posting 30.06 signs to the detriment of us who do respect their "RIGHTS" to run their businesses as they see fit and our "RIGHTS" to shop where we choose? How self-serving selfish is that?
:iagree: That is exactly what I was trying to put in words. You did it much better than I.

Re: Walmart has fallen!

You are right don’t like to poke the bear. This is not the mountain I choose to die on. I am not going to do something just because I can if there is a chance it is going to cost me or others more rights that have been worked on so hard by people in Texas for three decades. We have people on this Forum Mr. Cotton at the top that know exactly what needs to be done. They have given their life for Texans to gain some of our rights back just to be tossed for a few.

I have nothing else to say.

Seriously, If they want to keep open carriers out then let them post 07 and be done with it. If they want cc out let them 06 too. I would say your philosophy is the reverse answer to the solution. If everyone open carried then the public and WalMart would be used to it. I hardly ever open carry and I don't think many of us do. Perhaps I am wrong though and should routinely open carry and perhaps we all should. We can all live without WalMart. Their business model may go the way Sears did anyway. Angering your customer with no service doesn't lead to success. Wife had an Amazon delivery today on a post office truck...on a Sunday.... who else does this? Not a fan of Amazon otherwise but this guy started his business in a garage, like Jobs and Wozniak. Knows how to provide service.
Great selfish way to look at I guess. I try not to ruin good things for others. I may not like something, but others do.

Re: Walmart has fallen!

03Lightningrocks wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:07 pm Interesting conversation about popcorn lung and vaping. About the only common connection with firearms and ammo would be Walmarts decision not to sell something they see as harmful to the public. The very real difference to me is that in the decision to discontinue ammo/firearms sales, they have taken a stand against a constitutionally protected right. There is not constitutional right to smoke/vape or even drink alcohol.

My thinking on vaping is that it is relatively new and has not had the amount of time it typically takes to determine if it is extremely hazardous to ones health. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. One thing I have noticed. When they speak of teens being addicted to vape, they always leave the impression it has something to do with nicotine but one has to be 21 to purchase vape oil with nicotine in it. Knowing this, I can't help but wonder just exactly how vaping is addictive to teens, like cigarettes for example.
They lump all things together. It is like the huge opioid epidemic. They put heroine, illegal fentanyl, OxyContin, and other illegal drugs together. They want you to think the guy taking hydrocodone after surgery or the one who has oxycodone for chronic back pain after several surgeries are dope heads and are on deaths door. I understand the chance of becoming an addict, but there is a huge difference between someone who is dependent and those who are addicted for a high. There are some who can not walk do to pain, but the government restrictions will push those people to be heroine users because they can’t live with the pain rather than under a pain doctors care.

We are steadily creating bigger and bigger government so they can control us and intrude on our freedoms. If you want to vape then go vape. It is not hurting anyone, but yourself. Drinking and driving is hurting others. Not to difficult to figure out. The whole purpose of government is to protect my rights and protect you from me or me from you. Your rights end where mine begin.
We are loosing our freedoms under the heading of “safety.”

:iagree: If they really cared about deaths they would stop the sale of alcohol at restaurants, etc...and then Robert Francis O’Rourke wouldn’t of had a DWI. Ted Kennedy wouldn’t have killed Mary Jo Kopechne and on and on we could go.

Why would you take a chance of them telling you that your not allowed back with a firearm at all? I don’t agree with their policy, but it is their business. I wouldn’t want to take the. Vance of being told I can’t come back with a firearm.
You really think they would remember you?
I didn't see this link posted anywhere, but it fits here.

While police have not filed any charges against the man, a Lexington, Kentucky Walmart has made him sign a statement that he is aware of his nationwide ban at all Walmart locations.

Yep, I also remember Western Autos.
I bought a 410 shotgun from the Western Auto in Tyler that was on south Broadway. I almost forgot about them along with Gibson’s. :cheers2:

I personally don’t think it is wise to bring this to the attention of local stores until we see how they respond. It is best sometimes to just be quiet...

The law doesn’t say if they remember you. I hope you are suggesting for anyone to break law.
4. No posting of messages promoting illegal conduct.
So if an employee of said company says “don’t come in here again” or what about just “leave”/ “Get out of there”, you are permanently banned from that store for life? Can an employee have that power?
I would also like to follow that up with this. A store posts 30.06. THIS gives you legal notice to not carry there. Next week the sign is gone BUT you have already been notified of their wishes and they remember you. Are you trespassing bringing your firearm in?
Third. How many times on this forum as people been told incorrectly that they can not carry in some specified location. Does that mean they are banned for life from carrying there?
4th- if not banned for life, then for how long? Management change, until that employee isn’t there anymore, verbal permission, written permission or what?

Hypothetically lets say when i was 16, the security guy caught me stealing smokes when they used to be on the end caps of the checkout lane and I was told I was banned for life. Should one still follow that 30 years later?

Side note- by no means am I encouraging ANYONE to break the law. These situations of lifetime consequences based on something VERBALLY said to me have never ever crossed my mind!

I am not answering your hypotheticals. If you OC in Walmart and the manager tells you leave and not to bring a gun back into the store. Then yes you cannot come back in that store with a gun - period. If they changed managers I would suggest getting written permission if their policy changes. If you are not to come back with a firearm then you are out OC and CC. Why take the chance?
