Re: Making the best of open carry

I was at first against OC mainly because I didn't (still don't) see why one would want to OC and because of a certain in your face crowd, which at the time there seemed to be some of them on this forum with in your face posts. I have only seen one OC so far, a very old man in a gun store. So, it se...

Re: African Water Buck

I got to spend just over two weeks in Sandton / Johannesburg a few years ago and managed to sneak away for a Saturday day trip to Pillanesberg. Kruger was just far enough away to not fit into y itinerary or budget. I had a wonderful time taking pictures and seeing all of these animals amongst each o...

Re: Making the best of open carry

I agree that it's here and we shouldn't go back. I agree that some of the new 30.06 signs will come down. I disagree that many people will get used to it and accept it in ever-broader applications, especially in the cities and suburbs. For every one of those that do, there are 10 that are even more ...

Re: Killer clown prankster gets punched & gun drawn on him

There have been multiple videos of this happening. Each video has been resolved peacefully but there is always a chance that they may not be so lucky next time. Supposedly in Russia. The clown gets shot and killed [snip]VIDEO[/snip] I'm definitely not an expert, but I don't think the muzzle flash l...

Re: Killer clown prankster gets punched & gun drawn on him

The first outrage is that anybody would have this encounter and believe - even for a moment - that their life is in danger. It's not a Halloween prank when the victims didn't enter an exhibit or attraction knowing they would be part of it. The next outrage is not that these guys might meet an untime...

Re: Half Price Records & Books--30.06/30.07

Here is the email address I found for CEO Sharon Wright: swright@halfpricebooks.com I Googled her name and read an article about her in D Magazine. I'm not one to surrender before we even get started, but if you'll excuse my profiling her - somewhere between the rich north Dallas resident drinking ...

Re: How not to sharpen a knife

When I was 11, I was sitting in the garage whittling on a block of balsa wood, trying to emulate my dad's mastery of the woodcarving craft. On one stroke, my pocket knife sunk deep into the wood and became lodged. Because I was inexperienced, I inherently trusted the lockblade mechanism, I changed m...

Yep, many LEOs want the good guys in civvies to be armed. I think he was setting you up for a playful admonishment if you had said you don't carry everyday.

From my understanding, he can carry all of the mags he wants. He should also carry a miniature clamp of some sort, a hammer, and a nail for emergencies. :biggrinjester:

. . . or as AJSully said, just tell him to get his CHL already.

Re: Wife said "you need a gun with a safety on it"

Is a manual hammer safety the only thing that would satisfy her requirement? What about an XD that combines a grip safety with the Glock-style trigger safety in addition to the internals.

Re: Ft Worth City Hall carry rules for the public

Until then, you have to operate on the assumption that the LEOs in that building believe their wristband policy is the law. My tone was not directed at you. It is directed at the at the issue and your part in bold is what pisses me off about it. Law is not something to play games with. Understand a...

Re: Ft Worth City Hall carry rules for the public

Right or wrong , I would not recommend removing the wristband if open carrying in the event they might have trained other officers to use that as their primary threat assessment for visible guns. Hasn't been a problem in any other state with open carry, why should I be different. Are some animals m...

This show was in New Mexico. I'm assuming Lucas McCain would not approve.

(Any time this topic comes up, I immediately think of that episode. . . or the movie "Open Range" or "Shane".)

Re: Forget the gun show, go to the barbed wire show

This reminded me that I have a little antique board with 4-6 similar samples of different types of barbed wire on it that I got from my grandpa when he passed away twenty years ago. I need to find where it is, it'd go great in my son's room.
