Re: Denial

It is not up to me to decide if a person does, or does not, get an LTC. That is way above my pay grade. My responsibility is to teach a good class, make sure my students grasp the majority of the content, and on some rare occasions, enlighten DPS that they might want to take an extra look at an appl...

Re: Failing a student?

Keith - I will never forget that 9mm ammo in the 45ACP! I still don't know how he managed to get them loaded in the magazine. As far as actually failing goes, we have had many students that had to shoot twice to pass. And a few who refused, so effectively they failed themselves. On the written test,...

Yes, there could. You could have gotten her hooked on sporting clays.

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam

Yes, that was me. I said that. And I did not mean to imply that everyone who comes to a LTC class should have a full arsenal of handguns to choose from. Actually, most of the people who have shown up with an "out of the ordinary" firearm for qualification have been renewals (back when there was a re...

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam

I was simply asking, why, pray tell, would anyone even consider showing up at the range qualification with a short barrel AR with (or without for that matter) a brace? Why would anyone show up to qualify with a Judge? Or a Bond Arms derringer chambered in 45/410? Because they can. Or... more accura...

Re: Shoot Point Blank in NRH opening Wednesday 9/27/17

Are you willing to carry a million dollar insurance policy to cover any potential liability one of YOUR students may cause at their facility? Yes. I had NRA Instructor insurance, and that policy can name a range to be included. Without the ability to take students to qualify at a range, only range ...

The PAST recoil pad is a great help, also.
Many of the gun ranges carry them, as well as online retailers, like Amazon.

Put your resume out on Dice.com. I got downsized from the same type of position in 2014, and I still get emails almost everyday.

Good luck to you!

Re: Instructor recertification class

Thanks for your comments, they and you are appreciated for your efforts. Nevertheless, I wonder if you or I would be able to use that as an excuse for lack of preparedness for a scheduled LTC class? It speaks to professionalism in my mind, but again, I am not intending to offend or point fingers......

Re: Instructor recertification class

Did the test involve scoring a target? That was funny last in-person renewal when we couldn't mark the holes. :smilelol5: Are the new forms for School safety classess? (101 & 9) Chas. There was no test, and no scoring of targets. Which is a good thing, since it is obvious DPS can't count. 240 seats...
