Re: Regaining LTC/CHL after criminal charges dropped

I wanted to post an update, in case it helps someone else. My criminal case was dismissed on January 26, 2024. I received a letter (email) from DPS on February 15, 2024. My address has changed during the time that my LTC was suspended, so I didn't get the mailed letter. On February 28, 2024, I recei...

Regaining LTC/CHL after criminal charges dropped

Short summary is that I was arrested for assault family violence over a year ago. I was completely innocent of the charges, but my LTC was revoked because it was considered a violent crime. After a year of slowly grinding through the legal system, the prosecutor eventually dismissed the charges, bec...

Re: 2019 New LTC Processing Timeline...

I went and checked online and it says my license has been mailed. Unfortunately there aren't any dates on any of the items, so I don't know if this for my recent renewal, or if they're referring to my original application back in 2010. :confused5

Re: 2019 New LTC Processing Timeline...

I've been a member of this website since Feb 2009, and I've had my CHL since Feb 22, 2010. I renewed my CHL once, back in 2014, and it took 16 days. I know this because I found my post from back then, when I was delighted at how quick and efficient the process had become: https://texaschlforum.com/v...

Re: For any "experts" involved in project management

No, I couldn't find a Radio Shack. It did have coils, capacitors, resistors, steady lights and a voltmeter. I thought about including a switch but I didn't want them to turn it off to see if the problem returned. Basically as long the the equipment had power the light was on and the meter read the ...

Re: For any "experts" involved in project management

I've been in that role so many times I've lost count. Thankfully, I have been lucky enough as I've gotten older to have marketing folks actually LISTEN to what I have to say. Maybe it's the graying hair. ;-)

Re: Renewal question

I received my plastic last Friday (3/28) so it was 16 days for me. I did email the barcode page with the empty list, but I don't know if that really made a difference.

So I'm now good until 2019. :fire

Re: Renewal question

I agree that it's a little confusing about what to do with the checklist, if there is nothing on the checklist other than the checklist. ;-)

I will email my checklist in as well. It can't hurt anything, and email is cheaper than wasting a stamp.

Re: Renewal question

My son got his in about three weeks. I renewed yesterday and emailed the checklist. My current license expires in August. What do you mean by "emailed the checklist"? In my case, there was nothing on the checklist except for the checklist and the fact that they're going to try and re-use ...

Re: Renewal question

I suggest that you review the MULTIPLE changes to the laws that you will not be exposed to because no class is required. It is up to you now to keep yourself informed on the changes that occur. :rules: :tiphat: Yep, I follow Second Amendment issues pretty closely, including the changes to Texas CHL...

That's great news! I'm so glad they changed the law so that no class is required! That was EZ-PZ!

Renewal question

I just received my letter in the mail for my CHL renewal, and I went through their online process and it had me print out a checklist. My checklist has the following two items listed as required: The checklist itself TxDPS will attempt to use the passport photo and fingerprints on file. :headscratch...

Re: 45 ACP pocket pistol

RPB, thanks for the suggestion on Duluth Trading clothes. I like those pants and I see they offer longer tailed Ts also. I have a bunch of their long-tail t-shirts, and they're great for concealed carry. I'm a big guy anyway, and it means I can reach over my head without my holster playing "pe...

Re: Revolver recommendations

ruger 357magnum and load it with 38spl. It will last for years. I would hope ANY gun I bought (and used with the proper ammunition), would last for years. I agree with you, any decent handgun will last for years. Like I said earlier I've had good experience with Taurus revolvers. They shoot well, a...
