MI: Detroit Woman Sentenced To 2 Years For Armed Self-Defense

http://reason.com/blog/2018/05/02/black-gun-owner-will-give-birth-in-priso According to the article, she brandished her legally-owned firearm at a neighbor who intentionally rammed her car. The primary explanation given by the police and prosecutors is their policy of assuming that whoever calls the...

Texas SD8: Huffines Or Paxton?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on either candidate other than your typical boilerplate Republican positions. Both candidates have run attack ads accusing the other of supporting liberal causes candidates, though I have no idea if there's any through to them. A recent TSRA email said t...

Re: H.R.38: National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

How would this bill affect the ability of state and local governments to prohibit concealed carry at locations not covered by (b)(2)? In other words, would states still be able to ban concealed carry at so-called "sensitive locations" such as bars, hospitals, churches, etc.? Section (c)(1) seems to ...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

Guess I got bad info that it had passed a vote and was a done deal. My bad. Tired of carve outs for cops - they have been wrong on every citizen carry bill that has passed, but the legislature still makes special exemptions for them. Wondering who made the amendment that could possibly delay/kill t...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

According to another thread on this board, the amendment reduces the cost even further, to $15 - http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlodocs/85R/amendments/faspdf/SB00016H21.PDF That's not what the amendment does. It eliminates the fee for peace officers. It's still $40 for the rest of us. My bad... I g...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

It looks like it was amended by the House today, so it will have to go back to the Senate - http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/BillLookup/Actions.aspx?LegSess=85R&Bill=SB16 According to another thread on this board, the amendment reduces the cost even further, to $15 - http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/tlo...

Is that an actual gun case? If so, does anyone know where I could get one? My collection of pistols has outgrown my current case.

Re: Reciprocity and signage if 375/1911 passes???

According to the press release for HB1911, a new sign called 30.08 would be created to prevent carry by unlicensed persons. This sign would apply to unlicensed open carry and concealed carry, but would not apply to persons with an LTC. The law would not change 30.06 and 30.07; those would remain in ...

Re: Bills to fix the private entity leasing a government building loophole

Are there any bills filed, or in the plans of being filed, that will prohibit this terrible loophole of a private entity leasing a building that is paid for by our tax dollars, and therefor being allowed by the recent AG rulings to post enforceable 30.06/30.07 signage? I am all for private property...

Re: Canton First Monday

I was there last year, and there were no 30.06 or 30.07 signs. Several of the vendors were selling gun gear, but I was disappointed that I didn't see anyone open carrying.

I called my Representative (Leach) yesterday and left a message. I also called Strauss and left a message asking him to put his full weight behind this bill.

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

That bill is incredibly broad and does a lot more than just reduce the number of places that are off-limits. Several of the changes seem to remove the exemptions currently in place for judges and judicial offices. Other changes do away with the monitoring of receipts by bars and require the TABC to ...

Re: SB271 - No more talk of "taking a ride"

I like this bill. I was stopped several months ago because one of my headlights was out. The officer asked me a lot of questions which I politely declined to answer. He repeatedly threatened to arrest me and take me downtown over the headlight but offered to let me go as a courtesy if I waived my ri...

Re: Continued defiance to 30.06 Ruling Letters

We need to use Nevada as an example. The only odd limits places are those designated by federal law. The gun buster sign has no legal standing. If a business doesn't want you to carry, they have to personally approach you and tell you. But they have to know you are carrying first. :iagree: To me, t...
